How do you change the rubber suspension on a westy trailer?

You'll need to get some new rubber bushes...

Westy Frank sometimes has them or try here:

Jason

Thanks for the link, I have emailed them.

How do you change them?

They just unbolt, one inside the trailer and the other under the swing arm. About 15min job as long as the bolts are not siezed. If they are, just cut through the bolt heads and the rubbers will come free.

I think the bolt goes straight through the elastomer.

You might be shocked.... I think they are around £100 for the pair.

There is quite a comprehensive trailer resto thread here:

and on Westfalia Register
http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?hl=en&sl=nl&u=http://www.vwbusclub.nl/WESTFALIA/ARTIKELEN/westfalia-aanhanger.htm&prev=/search%3Fq%3Drolf%2Bde%2Bkam%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26rls%3Den&rurl=translate.google.co.uk&twu=1&usg=ALkJrhiyX51eEiKGxOX3tNyEFnn_sm4nGQ" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Correct stickers can be got from Rolf De Kam

You'll want a large westfalia sticker, just email him what you need. It goes on the rear. He can also put you onto the elastomers.

Also, don't varnish it..... it should have teak oil!

Oh, sorry, yours is the older version. You'll want the plaque, not the sticker.

Good luck in finding that!

.....and I think Danish Oil for the lighter finish on the earlier trailers.
