Right you lot I got a question for you!

Was chatting to a mate about campers
And was told a true camper has to have
A fixed sink/hop & rock in roll bed
according to the DVLA
If it doesn't then it's not a camper

I was told the same by my ex insurance company [Norton] wouldn't insure my panel van as it never contained that lot and if it did it would have to have a certificate from a genuine van fitter....

This is what I was waiting for thanks
So if you have a accident in your bus
And it's classed as a camper and it doesn't
Have the above then you could land yourself
In trouble with the insurance

According to the DVLA web site, this is the spec for a 'Motor caravan':

Motor vehicles ... constructed to include living accommodation which contains at
least the following equipment :
• seats and a table,
• sleeping accommodation which may be converted from the seats,
• cooking facilities,
• storage facilities.
This equipment must be rigidly fixed to the living compartment, however the table may be designed
to be easily removable.

:D

the rules at glasto are if you haven't got a fixed cooker or sink you can't go on the campervan area

you think you have problems?

there is one federal state in switzerland that demands 70% of the volume of the vehicle to be filled with furniture and cupboards before they'll declare it a camper. :)

other places here it's even possible to get camper classification with one of them hang up plastic bags as the running water equipment............. ;)

Is there any room left and how many can
You get in.

So your camper must be a proper regulated
Camper any pic :msn4:

I remember reading about the fixed sink/ cooker for insurance purposes. Interesting about Glastonbury requirements...who has a fixed cooker, isn't that a late bay thing? I'll point them to my 'Campmobile' sticker on the sink. :) Haha proof!

Dont worry, theyre not that arsed, they just dont want transits with mattresses in the back :)

So that makes a Westfalia campmobile not a camper due to the lack of a fixed cooker. As far as I am aware US regulations stopped cookers being fitted.

got mine down as a day van with cherished.

my first VW was a 67 splittie with an extendible kitchen table in the back and and a mattresse on the top.

in 1976 nobody at the glastonbury door was asking if it was officially and legally a camper............

So my garage isnt a garage at all then in the eyes of the DVLA its actually a camper van as its got a sink and a cooker and a folding bed, hmm interesting that my microbus is stored inside a campervan.

oh no im wrong its not a campervan as the cooker aint fixed, its ****** still. phew thank goodness for that.

ps mines insured as a vw t2 with lowered suspension, strangley the lowered suspension put the price down. lovely
