Guys,

Left the bus for a week, went to start it and it tried to turn over really slow a couple of times and then nothing? The battery is only a few weeks old. I put the old battery on charge, then switched it over and it fired up on the button. So, flat battery right, and the only thing i can think of that was draining it was that apparently there is a tracker fitted, anything else it could be, surely a tracker couldnt drain a new battery in a week?

Cheers.

Might be your radio, mine has a removable front and if I don,t take it off the battery goes flat on my van too !

Have you got, or can you borrow a multimeter?

Disconnect the earth lead from the battery, connect the multimeter set on 'Amps' between earth lead and battery earth post. You'll see a reading if there's any drain.

Then pull each fuse in turn and see which one stops the drain. That should help locate the circuit that's draining the battery.

Good call, i'll look at getting a multimeter, thanks chap.

just use a 12v light bulb and a bit of wire if ya dont wanna buy a multimeter ..

If it glows .. its draining!

:)

tracker will easily drain a battery in a week, especially if it's kept in a poor signal area, we had a brand new fork lift inside our 2nd warehouse and it only got used once a week, every time the truck was flat, in the end we had to disconnect it. also propex or radio does too, i've pulled all my fuses while my vans inside over winter.

Thanks guys, im convinced its the tracker. The guy i bought it from said he didnt know where it was but believed it was under the dash somewhere, ive had a look and cant see it but i guess its going to be hidden. Is there any easy way of finding it other than tracing all the wires from the fusebox?

Pulling the fuses may not help you find the tracker. If I was fitting one I would connect it to a permanent live and use an inline fuse or the one built into the tracker if it has one.

My tracker takes about 3 weeks to drain the battery and sends me a location text just before battery dies so I can nip into the garage and plug the charger in. Happy days.
