To go hand in hand with my other post on whats the most desirable Early Bay Conversion...

I'm interested to know what year Early Bay people find most desirable?
Please dont just put a year because you own that year van.
Interested to see results.

Hi - controversial as 1972 isn't in the selection (not my preference but in the interest of fairness to all early bay owners - it's still a low light van..)

If we are all about early bays, then its the earlier the better ;) 67 builds preferably

Yes totally understand your point and have thought this myself. Though the later they got the more they progressed so is later better?

massive question - best year imo is 1971 as you get the later tech but the early design, but the most desirable would have to be a 1968 as it's one year only, wide 5 e.t.c. - in relation to the other thread, this confirms that my dream bus is a 1968 panel van! 8)

Glad this thread helped cement in your head your dream bus :)

I have been under the impression for a while the 71 is best bus though in history (non VW) related more happened in 68 - Woodstock. So that makes me think 68 is an iconic year.
There where early bays at woodstock.

EDIT - I need to correct myself. Woodstock was 69 :) lol

Come on, you cant beat a 69!

Guessing as been said before, later the van the better the refinement. Still the same great shape but tweaked, but then Im not a crossover fan but each to their own so very subjective

After the 3rd time reading I just got your joke

Ah ha ha 72 :D
I very nearly got another 73 when I got the 72  But that had more rust and I only had 2k to spend:lol:

For all you guys wanting that later refinement ....

Haha very good sir. Thats taken you 2 hours to think that one up :)

1971 for me, disc brakes and removable valence, best of both worlds and still got the good looks :D

Given that we all think that our bus is a fine example of the best year, it has to be 69.

But if I owned a 68, than obviously 68 would be the best year... :D

Then again, if I owned a late bay...I'd be envious  .

I have to go with a 69 ( ok i am biased  ) but the lift out stainless sink is a must 8)

Ditto! Although, if it had wide 5 as well it would have been about perfect!

And yes, mine is a '71. Just a coincidence though, honest!

I went with a biased opinion of 69.....obviously earlier the better though if im answering for real!!!

71 for me good looks good brakes
One year only calipers can be hard to get though.
