Well, I do love my '72 model year, and just like the Danbury conversion itself, the Crossover model is what I grew up with, and is what seemed 'normal' amongst the earlier models with 'tiddly' rear lights and 'oddly' shaped rear vents, along with the later models with big fat square bumpers!
However, I do remember even as a very young bus enthusiast, still being attracted to some of the detail differences of the 'early' earlies, such as the painted dash, and trim differences, so to that end I have voted for the 68 model year. :)

Yeah, elm green 71 poptop westfalia would tempt me to sell mine. ;)

Looking like either end of the scale is winning.

Guess the mindset is, its early so the earlier the better or later has some better features.

Has to be a 68-70 with flat rear arches for me, disc brakes are easier to add than modifying rear flared arches :)

HAS TO BE A 67 BUILT PANEL VAN!!!!!!!must say 68s /early69s are my favorites. Lard its not for sale  but then I like all earlys.

'71. First year of the twin port, so you've got a few more horses, disc brakes, optional brake servo, but you've still got most of the early features:)

Looking like its still between 68 and 71. With 71 slightly in the lead. I have learnt a lot through this thread of the differences in years. Didn't realize there where so many changes between them.

is there a difference with early 68,s and 69 's? or just the 68 a one year model? thanks

I'm with Graham, I had a 71 for a couple of years, but sold it as I longed for flat rear arches and wide 5 wheels... so I've voted for 69 as that's what I have now, but really, anything 67-70 for me..

Lets be clear, this isn't a serious thread, and my comments are just personal opinion, I like ALL early bays. And splits. And Lates.
