Just got back from France in my 1970 Dormobile, circa 180miles door to door. Looking to travel to Italy in July/August with all the kids.

Question: How far have you travelled in your EB? Visited any great places? Anyone take children on a long run?

Driven to Hungary and back twice, once in our old 78 devon when the kids were 4, 2 & 1(1999) and again in 2006 in the 72 dormobile ~3000 miles in 2 weeks.
Last year we spent two weeks in Scotland around the Mull of Kintyre - took the dog as well as the kids on that one!
Kids seem pretty happy as long as you make regular stops (DVD player helps as well).

I took my '71 to Le-Mans the other year, probably a 1000 miles in all. We had a great laugh, probably got more attention than the sports cars but then I guess that was probably because me and my mates were armed to the teeth with supersoakers and we drenched everybody in sight

In 2002 me and the g/f went to France then Germany down to Italy across France again into Spain spent the summer working just outside Valencia then carried on down to Gibraltar then through Portugal and back up through France again and back home, a little under a year on the road, although that was a 75' bay does that count? :)

All the way down past Cannes & St Tropez to Monpellier and beyond an dbnackl to London over 1 month.

We go to Perranporth every year for our holiday in our 69 EB, its 358 miles one way and usually drive through the night (less traffic). We do a bit of touring round the cost so by the time we get back home we've covered a good 1,000 miles in a week.

Last week we had to bring the van out of hibernation (last used September 07) to go and pick up a Devon interior from New Port, Nr Cardiff and did a 437 mile round trip in 12.5 hours at a steady 50-55mph ish and a couple of nice welcomed coffee breaks thrown in for good measure. No problems with the van, I was a bit worried about using it with it being sat for so long not being used but all was well, she did us proud even with coping with the crap windy/rainy weather.

3500 miles in 7-8wks last summer.

southwales to plymouth to roscoff around the coast or north west france and through Brest and Nantes; then onto Ile d'oleron and down to La Rochelle; down to Toulouse saint emillion; across and over the millau bridge down to rodez; furrther down to montpellier and to the cote d'azur. stopped off in saintes - marie- de la mere, aix en provence, frejus, cannes, nice and then italy. this included, albenga, pisa, lucca, florence, venice, lake garda and home through the base of the alps to calais. just intime for vanfest :)

I regularly do about 160 miles a weekend in my van.

It is my daily driver, so the 80 miles Bristol-Brum and 80 miles back isn't too far. Plus the odd camping excursion etc.

I did Latte in Italy as my furthest point the other year after St Tropez, Monaco etc via Spa in Belgium.

The previous trip to St Tropez we went home via Morzine in the Alps and that was 7 days door to door

Baytripper... how long did it take you to reach Latte in Italy? Looking to go to Lake Garda area in July this year and planning 3 days travelling from Calais. Thoughts?

Me? Id say two days driving from Calais to get to Latte. A third full day after that will get very tiring, so plan a rest day would be my suggestion ;)

Down to Naples year before last. Just got back from a cirquit of Spain and Portugal - 3400 miles in three weeks. Bit too much driving to be honest but the weather was not good so we tended to move around more than usual.

After I graduated back in '91, Gemma and I drove down through France (Loire, Dordogne, watched the Oxbow Longboard WC down in Biarittz) across to Monaco, into Italy - (Pizza, Florence, Venice) - up into Austria (Saltzburg) Czeckoslovakia (Prague) then Germany - up the Rhine Valley and back through Belgium. Think we did about 5-6000 miles, in about 6 weeks...

London to Brugues, Brussells, Paris, Normandie (Honfleur,Etretat, Fecamp) and back to London in two weeks. Camping at every stop except Paris were I was able to get a room at street level with window to the street where I was literally 4 feet from my bus parked outside. At the campsites in Normandie we had to put up with older people going around the bus cheking it out as we were inside trying to sleep and some even used their flashlight to see what my camper looked like inside, what they found inside was this angry and tired Mexican staring back at them  Oh the memories.
