whats the score with this nova letter when you import a bay?

imported my westy in the country 2013, finally got an mot on it , start to fill in the paper work, and i am now being asked for a nova letter, that i should of done,
in 14 days or get a fine.

is that right.

You need to write to the dvla and show proof that tax was paid when the bus entered into the country.

As far as I remember there's several things on the form they ask u such as how much u paid for the motor , how much tax was paid , when it came here etc etc?

If it passes they will give u a nova number and you can then go down the registration process

My bus was in the country 2 years before I got a nova number and got it registed.

Yep came in from April 2013

You need to contact the HMRC at Salford and explain the situation, they will ask for a copy of your c386 and as long as they are happy will send you a letter with a NOVA number on them. I pointed James in the right direc tion as he had exactly the same issue with his. Without the NOVA number DVLA will just reject the application.

I found it better to call them first and explain the situation, they are well used to it by now as they have to do this for any vehicle imported before April 2013 but not yet registered, I'm sure there are loads out there :lol: :lol:

Hello all,
find myself in the same boat so great to read this, just got on the phone to them and a very helpful lady ironed it out for me.... as my bus was bought from a chap who bought it from a chap who imported it, all I have is a photo-copy of the import papers.

I was told to e-mail these to the address below and ask for a verification of duty paid and they will then issue a NOVA certificate by post within 3 working days.
