Looking to remove my orig sapphire radio and put one of the retro sounds head units in. (Discussed in another thread). On checking out wiring for the current radio it has a old school inline fused power feed connecting to the box in the pic. What is this?!

I've read elsewhere that fuse no.7 is suitable for accessories and on checking my fuse box there doesn't appear to be anything on this spade connection at the mo.

I also have a 12v cig lighter fitted along the same line as the orig switches. I believe these weren't original items? Mine looks to have been well used over the years although not currently working. It has just one wire dangling from the rear of it which I'm guessing would be the power feed. I want to fit a replacement ..... Any ideas on how these are removed as can't see any obvious fixings. Do they just push into the dash panel? If so I'll apply more force from behind :0). Also in terms of supplying power to a new one, any ideas on where I can take a feed from?

Finally.... Is it a requirement to be a 2 ft pixie to see and change wiring behind that dash? Got physically stuck several times tonight!

Cheers
Craig

I'm referring to the metal connection box to the left of the pic above. Pic of current lighter below....

I'm pretty sure that metal box is the back of the hazard switch, easiest way to get to it is unscrew the knob on the front and pull it out under the dash.

Depending on the age of the cig lighter , I think you will find that if you remove the lighter part
then hold the inner section, internally with long nose pliers and behind the dash there is a complete cover which screws onto
the inner section from behind. Standard thread direction (left - loose). Hope this helps , there are
so many types. Never know might work.

Thanks gasman....it did feel like there was a chunkier cover behind so I will try and unscrew that....before starting with any force!
