What's this for...bracket in engine bay?

Hi Guys

This was rivetted to the roof of the engine bay and I have no idea what it's for. It was above the battery right hand side.

Any ideas?

A charcoal cannister. Normally found on us vans for emission wotsits during the 70s

possibly for the carbon filter if the bus was american market, mine had one behind the rear light that side, presume it's been removed and piped straight from crank breather into the air filter.

pipe from crank breather into charcoal filter and then pipe out of filter into air filter, i removed all mine and straight piped from crank to air, presume yours has had same done.
