Hello all,

I've been helping a friend to lower his bus and unfortunately the bump stop/ torsion housing mounting points which attach to the rear chassis are totally rotten  . In order to ensure the vehicle is safe these brackets need to be replaced :!: . The question is :-

a)Can i buy replacement items?, if so where?
b)Can i get a set cut off a donor bus?, if so where could i get them?
c)Do i try and somehow fabricate a set out of steel plate? (dont fancy that much)

This simple lowering job has ended up with several front chassis welding repairs, a new front beam and now this bloody snag  , so any advice from yours truly would be grrreatly appreciated.

James.

I've used avis adjusters on the front of mine with spax KSX shocks to stiffen up the ride up front too, bus drives and handles nice, one spline on the rear, but i'm hoping to upgrade the rear shocks at some point too. Were fitting red nine kit on my mates bus with a red 9 front beam, which i have to say is a work of art and we fitted the beam before his wife had made us a bacon sandwich- well impressed, we are about to fit red9 rear spring plates but need to do some structural work to the bus first. We have a meeting this week froggy, so come along for a few beers, it would be nice to have a natter, unless my thread is enough to scare you from ever trying to do some spanner work on a bus ever again perhaps?

Will be at the bucks head pub at long lane Crudgington at 8ish on tues the 13th of Jan with a good bunch of peeps, the lowering project is obviously ongoing at weekends, but you are welcome to pop in and see whats involved, maybe even witnessing trying to fabricate some bump stop mounts unless someone can help  .

Drop us a pm if you are up for it and i'll give you a contact no
