evening all. am just getting round to fitting my hook stuff! just wondered which cable would be best to run from the site input in the engine bay, to the small consumer unit im going to put under the bed? have seen 16 amp "flex", or i have some flat twin and earth knocking around. also whats best from the consumer to the 13 amp socket in the van. many thanks, steve.

16 amp flex will be fine, don't use twin and earth for your hook up lead because its solid drawn copper (not stranded) and you will end up with a broken core in the wire after a couple of camping trips, the missus will not be happy if she cant dry her hair  lol

cheers. i already have a 16amp hook up lead to go from the site to the van. its from the socket in the engine bay to the consumer, then the consumer to a 13 amp socket im after. is flex ok for this? steve.

the same as you would use in your house should be all wright Steve i would of thought :|

No, please don't use "normal" flexible cable. You will need what is called "arctic" flex.
It's designed for rough use and a wide range of operating temperatures.
It comes in 1.5mm or 2.5mm and blue or yellow.
1.5mm is rated at 13A, and as most hook up supplies are 10A, will be OK for a hook up lead.
