I have a strange problem with my van, usually once the engine is warm. It will keep running even if I remove the key. The only way I can stop it is to put the key back in turn it a few times and hope for the best!!
What may be the cause and is there an emergency cut off somehow?
Thanks all.

As above ignition switch had the same problem on a bug years ago

Magic, thanks.
What are we looking at price wise for a new/second hand one and how easy are they to fit please?

here's a useful link. I've done it on a beetle without removing the steering column etc but there are some fiddly elements. Pretty straightforward with some patience. Remember the switch isn't the key barrel, that is something different..

They're not that bad on a bay to be fair. Pain in the bum to change the ignition barrel, but the switch itself if OK from memory- think they're held in with a tiny grub screw.
