Dudes - I am thinking about installing a electric motor water bottle thing for my bus instead of the air pressure system. I need to replace the wiper switch on the dash anyway cause the button is stuck in and they seem pretty expensive.

Has anyone undertaken this swap before and was it easy?

Cheers

Yea, no big deal. Buy a push button switch from maplins or your local auto center & a universal 12v washer pump.
Run an ignition live +12v to one side of the switch. Run a wire from the other side of the switch to the + on the pump. Run the earth wire from the - of the pump to the van body somewhere.
Mount the pump near the original bottle & chop the rubber pipe & plum the pump in line.
The last bit is to pull the rubber pipe off the old wiper switch & connect it to the T piece under the dash. (The T piece runs to the washer jets).
Then off you go. Job done...

out of curiosity, where can the pump adapter to fit the bottle be bought? I would like to actually put pressure into the washer bottle. I bought one of those large hand pumps from Lidl but the adapters on that were way to small

JK do some proper conversion kits with electric pumps and new water bottles. I just bought a cheap pump and plumbed it in...dead easy. Got a switch and a pump from here.....

yeah, but where can i buy an adapter to fit the washer bottle? does anyone have such a device? ive never seen one.

i bought a kit everywhere sells them, you get everything you need to fit,new bottle, pipe, switch motor, and electrical conectors oh and even 2 mounting bolts.i would say 30mins tops to fit,and its like someones presure washing the van when its all on  £25 if i remember rightly

hehe i dont think im being clear i didnt want an electric, im trying to stay OG, :D just wanted to know if any shops online sell an adapter or did VW provide one with the van originally to pump it up.

ohhhhh, well ive never seen one ,id have gone that way tho if there was one available

Remember to mount the motor slightly lower than the bottle too. :)

Got myself a valve cut from an old bike inner tube. Cut the rubber sleeve to expose the brass fitting and then pushed it into the end of the rubber tube, that is connected to the washer bottle, until the tube comes about half way up the brass fitting. I then sealed it with some self amalgamating tape and pushed a tight fitting piece of fuel hose over the join and sealed that with two fuel pipe clips, works a treat, better than this electric nonsense can't see that catching on.

i have the OG one, it rocks, never looses pressure and I agree with speedwell, much better than that new fangled electric thing

There certain OG things I can live with & love but having to pump my van up every time I want to squirt is not one of them!
