Hi,

I was putting the wiper motor back in my '71 but the rubber grommet on the base of the motor mount disappeared down the heater tube.... Is it necessary to have one there to insulate the motor from the body (there's a separate earth) or is it ok to do without?

Cheers

I think it's a vibration thing.
The wiper rack is attached by the spindles, which are rubber bushed, and by the mount above the heater tube, which is also rubber bushed.
Mine is really noisy even with the rubber, so I imagine it would be horrible without.
(I don't think it's for electrical isolation)

Thanks - that's good news. I need to have it on the road tomorrow but didn't want to risk any electrical issues. I'll track down some sort of grommet to replace the missing one in the next week or two
