I've been away from the VW scene for a few years but I'm back in now and the van needs a spruce up. Just wanted to say that I can't understand why nobody is producing a commercially available early bay front panel  Or have I missed it if someone is? :p

I think it is common practice now to use a late bay panel, beat out the badge bulge and weld up the high indicators!
Have seen it done on a few peeps threads - only other choice seems to be getting a clip from a breaker :(

Yes I've got a late one on the van now but did it 10 years ago when we restored it. I just hoped that 10 years would have been long enough to get this panel to market via a commercial supplier. The market is there I'm sure.

Unfortunately its an ever decreasing market! Doubt anyone would have the balls to set up all the pressings and tooling to produce a single panel that only fits on a 68/72 year bus.
If they did I imagine they would be very expensive and peeps would still buy the late front and convert it!

Not exactly what you mean , I know, but im pretty sure AH Schofield do sell a ready converted early front panel using the available panels welded up together.

They now also do a front panel top section (late and still needs holes blanked up) that doesn't have the centre badge bulge in it :)
