1970 westi arrive the work starts

I agree! I will never understand those people crying about going to the dentist, have they ever done the MOT? Nice bus by the way!

    My 71 Bay resto project

If all this is true, and it's a good guess that it is, it's almost unbelieveable! I'm quite impressed by the amount of work, the amount of time spent, and your fearless driving force to overcome any unforseen obstacles! Allthough you claim to be a beginner, you must have had seen how it's done...

    our early bays

You're building yourselfe an early bay empire man! I'd love to see detailed pics of the new 68!

    My 1971 bay project...

I just love this thread! Som much effort into a van that needs to be looked over in almost every place. And as a bus owner and a student I understand your time troubles (allthough I'm not shure of the exact time requirement for your studies). Then I guess you haven't seen this: The bus...

    can you identify this part?????

Of course they're different. A 72 has the new engine compartment with the non-removable rear valance, so therefor the tow bar, and rear bumper mounts are different from the older ones. Allthough I've seen some different styles of the older mount, they don't just differ from towbar non-towbar but...

    our shed (72 crossover)

SLOWLY? If a project takes years to finish I wouldn't raise my eyebrows, I'd even expect that amount of time. You're really working in some pace man! Great job and I'm looking forward to more updates!

    68 doble door panel van!!

That bus is just as cool as a bay possibly could be! Blue, logoed, YM 68, double door, and some of the greatest patina ever seen! So how rusty is it underneath?
  8. kee

    Thats what I call a low-mileage panel - 33kms from new !!

I agree! That's just bullshit seller crap! But anyhow, which entusiast is really going to take such a "car dealer" for real? I mean come on! This hobby is about building nice rides and meeting great people, not to earn as much as possible! It must be as worthless driving a LHD in UK as a RHD...

    Went to Southampton docks today...

Wooooow! That's just wonderful! Has it been sitting in a swamp upside down or what? Thinking of the roof gutter and headliner condition. According to that sign its an MPV! So now we know what our buses are, when you say, "I can't drive I'm taking the bus!" and peolpe say "bus?" looking at you as...

Not qiure an early but nearly

Oh that's the Finnish "spare-van"! Great story I love it. Just reconsider, the car dealer give you two cars for the same price as one and you buy them both and keep one as a spare. Incredible!

Earliest RHD bay - anyone know of any older ?

It's not bad owning a 68, I for one, am a bit jelaous, but as long as it's wide-five I'm pleased. Allthough the pick up is the oldest known you guys might want to compete who's owning the oldest RHD bus! Go for it!

    my 68 SC(new pics)

I'd also love to see that pickup in it's original colour! Just as a notice for the others, while lasslo is the guy raising his fist, I'm the one who's driving. That was some moments, the best thing is that you have a dozen of vw loving people (the carried crew in the back) thanking you for...

Fuel tank sender unit, early vs late bay

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to return the wrong sender unit, and I'm not shure whether I'll get a new one since it's not aviable in Sweden as far as I'm concerned (I'll do some more investigation). Allthough my repair manual suggests that a new one is bought, I am curious of trying to...

Fuel tank sender unit, early vs late bay

Hi, I ordered a fuel tank sender unit from a company for my 69 westy. The problem is that the unit I got was of the late bay style. When mentioning this to the company they answered that they didn't have the one for the early bay. My question is, before returning the sender unit, what is the...

introducing fry! 37 years locked away, now he is out!

I remember having contact with someone, but as far as I remember that guy drove a fasty or something like that. It might just be my memory failing me. The westy isn't on the road yet. Got some parts today that I've been waiting months for to come (sadly the wrong fuel tank sending unit). So...
