Afternoon all,

I have a few queries regarding an insurance policy I'm taking out for what has been described (by Type 2 Detectives) as an 'entry level' T2 Camper for which I paid around £12k. It's quite drive able but not concourse and will need some finessing. Apologies if the questions are a bit entry level too...

- Should I go for an agreed value or not?
- Does two seats at the front and a back seat which has two belts but could theoretically fit 3 people, count as a 4 person or 5 person vehicle? The insurers want to describe it as a 5 seat vehicle
- Are T2 early bays treated as a four door or a five door vehicle for insurance purposes?

Many thanks!

Yes go for the agreed value because insurance companies are a business and they’ll stiff you if they have even a remote chance of getting away with it. These didn’t mostly have rear seat belts initially so that’s a grey area. I’ve never had anybody ask if it’s a four or a five seat vehicle before but I’d say a five anyway just because you can seat five. Same again with a four or five door vehicle, I’ve not had anyone ask me that from the insurance company. Im think8 they’re possibly a three door but I’d stick to the mainstream insurance companies for classic vehicles like Just Kampers or Haggerty that know these vehicles. There’s quite a few classic insurance companies.

Ozziedog ,,,,,, just enjoy :)

If not too late for you to decide, I renewed with Heritage/Norton again this year, OK price, but easy to deal with. Phone calls or emails all very clear & one agent dealt with my renewal, not got passed around.
Don’t think I got quizzed on seat numbers etc, they took the 1970 VW microbus description & based policy on that spec, & then I noted the various modifications I knew about.

Agreed value service was provided at no extra charge, but the value you declare does affect the premium.
The first years agent was open about how I could save on the following years premium, such as gaining LHD driving experience and mentioned club membership on here. Think you get discount on parts from Heritage too.

Hagerty actually wouldn’t cover me unless my bus was garaged or on a driveway each & every night. This I only found out when I told them it would be parked in a residential car park overnight at weekends when not in last years secure storage unit, (before I sorted a nearby garage.)
Our house has no drive so that ruled them out.
