    Anyone got a log burner

whichever saw you get - if you don't have it already, do get trained in use and maintenance - especially chain filing and saw handling...and do wear the correct safety gear (helmet, gloves, trousers, boots). 40 years experience in chainsaw handling has shown me many times the value of good...

    Rubbish headlights...

yes 75/75W = high 75, low 75 cf. standard 60 high, 55 low - my lighting problem was that the dip beam did not give enough illumination to be safe, so upping the dip beam to 75W really helps and is still not that bright to dazzle other road users - and the 75W on high beam also helps throw the...

    Rubbish headlights...

my MoT man said I could fit H4 75/75W bulbs into the stock Bosch units and still be legal provided there is the correct pattern in the beam and the cut off line for the dipped lights is sharp and accurate. The 100/80W lamps would apparently not be legal for road use... cheers Rob

    LPG conversion

hi Andy - on a typical old skool carb like VW Solex, the set up for lpg uses a gas diffuser ring mounted on top of the carb - this supplies gas directly into the carb when the petrol supply has been cut off (temp controlled valve in a water-cooled engine, hence the auto change over from petrol...

    LPG conversion

check out gasure http://www.gasure.co.uk/salesac.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - Steve is now quoting £899+VAT for a single carb conversion, you choose the tank you want - I paid an additional £90 odd for the Blos lpg mixer - put Blos lpg into ebay search - which I installed...

    LPG conversion

yes - totally recommend this lpg conversion - our 71/72 bay (1600TP, stock carb + exhaust etc) is only running on lpg now, I buy at 71p/litre on most forecourts and also on account with Countrywide Farmers (with their own 24/7 self-serve auto gas outlets at most of their stores now). also across...

    Carrying bicycles on a westie

do you have a tow bar? this is the easiest way to carry 2+ bikes - e.g. try the Witter carrier which bolts to the tow bar direct and is easy to remove e.g. if you need access to the engine bay but is also firm and secure cheers Rob

    Tow bar

I fitted the JK J11369 version for the 71-72 van some years ago - fits well, works well, lasts well...the removable tow ball makes it easy to bolt on bike carriers or other tow plates - the tow bar is easy to remove/replace when there's an engine out job - works well with stock exhaust set up...

devon pop top - best material?

yes, very early morning daylight control...!! that's one of the reasons why I have chosen the plain concertina type without windows, as well as expecting a simpler construction with less welds and only one type of material to be more robust than one with clear vinyl insert panel windows - my...

devon pop top - best material?

many thanks for the replies - I was looking at the same pop tops as you Lobie - but which is the best material? - I try to keep things stock, so would prefer like for like i.e. to replace the original concertina with its clear panels with the same - but it's a lot dearer and I wonder how durable...

devon pop top - best material?

what's the best type of material for a Devon concertina fabric replacement? is the original replacement concertina plastic bellows set worth doing, +/- the clear window option, or is a newer fabric better? is there any big difference between fabrics in terms of condensation or durability? thanks Rob
