    Brilliant, thanks for your help. The heads are from a 74 i believe, i have had one of the heads stripped down so i will have the inlet valves measured before i proceed. valve stem oil seals, are they fitted to inlet and exhaust?

    No pressure on cylinder 1, engine nearly stripped down, managed to buy 2 cylinder heads from ebay £65, stripping down and replacing everything. All being well this will cure all issues. The next thing is electronic ignition. Best make? Cheers

    Its a completely stock engine, 1.6 with alternator conversion. I am going to carry out compression test tonight, which will then tell me if its a valve.

    Thanks guys, I tried GSF but they dont have the correct length i need also they do not list a LHD cable for my year with the correct 'hoop' end on for the pedal part. Thanks Mark

    SORTED!!!!! Turns out the wire running from the condensor to the points was arkin on the dizzy housing, bit of adjusting and done. Runs ok but cant test drive as my throttle cable snapped. Any one think of somewhere maybe near manchester where i can get a cable pretty sharpish (next day or two)...

    Me again!. Am i right in saying that if i take the dizzy cap off and turn the ignition on, then flick the points open that there should be a spark? this is on a 1600 71 bus. If there is not a spark what should i being doing right? Cheers Busboy1971

    Checked all the wiring again this morning, even check my haynes to make sure i had all the correct wires in place. Still no spark when i check the points? i am right in saying that if you turn ignition on and flick open the points you should see a spark? havent checked the carb yet though! Cheers
