    Oil cooling.

Thanks for contributing, couple of questions. Standard gear box or FwF? What are you using to measure your oil temperature? Mat

    Leisure battery electrics.

I have a Waeco Combicool 60, 12v, 240v, and Gas. Its big and I can make ice.. The fridge is getting on a bit, (2006) the 12v is a battery killer so I don't use it much. If I do, I will first fill the fridge with beer and get it properly chilled on 240V, then keep it cold on 12V while driving...

    Oil cooling.

Its a standard Bus gear box, I am considering a Freeway Flyer. Typically I sit at about 3.5K RPM. If its a cool / cold day I will push it to 4K, but not much beyond that and if I do its not for long. From everything I have learnt here, full flow is preferred, but retro fitting / drilling...

    Oil cooling.

It not running too hot because I drive deliberately slower, but I want to drive faster. So far I have been using the "ignorance is bliss" tactic. Sometimes the Dip stick is too hot to touch, not very scientific but as road side test it works. My distributor temperature gauge only goes to 100...

    Oil cooling.

Looks like a very neat job, beyond the drilling and tapping was the case modified at all for using this location? The machine shop pic (1) looks like they built up some weld, could just be the pic angle because the last pic (3) looks stock. This location should prove less problematic for...

    Oil cooling.

No not something I had seen before. Reviews seem positive and would be a quick way to make a difference especially to the heads! Thanks for that I think I will get a set before my next trip to Cornwall.

    Oil cooling.

Not sure yet, its was something @fallingoffalot mentioned. TES said to not drill an installed motor, because swarf will enter the engine they have a point, so that is another X in the full flow column. But the Maxi needs the piping (x2) in an area where there is little space. Pulley tinware...

    Oil cooling.

Thanks Mike, The feed back from TES was the Maxi route, but timware and the engine support will need to be modified. You are right I will look for and close any gaps on the aftermarket tinware first.

Thanks for the pictures, very helpful. Both out and the return look close to the belt, I will dig into the other return location to see if I can minimise that.

Thanks, I will check out the clearance before I take anything apart! This will be a break from the norm.

    Ben's 72 Bay

Coming on nicely :) What seats have you fitted? I am considering switching from original to something with a little more comfort. Sounds like you have not driven it much yet, but how did the freeway flyer perform with your engine? Is 1776 underpowered? Is a steady 70MPH possible or do you...

    Oil cooling.

Hello all, I am looking for a little advise. I am just back from a 1300 mile trip in my 1973 Bay round Ireland starting from Portsmouth. Had a great time and the van did not let me down. As I am sure you may have recently experienced very hot weather. The midday run back from Wales to...

CB hex linkage, to drill or not to drill.

Afternoon, I am using the crimbo limbo to make some headway Installing a new engine. I am bolting all of the tinware etc to make sure it fits on a bench before I start fitting it in an engine bay.. I purchased as a kit a pair of Weber 40's with a CB linkage and manifolds. The lower part of...

Engine Bay, electric fuel pump location and Oil Breather WTF.

Looks like a neat job, thanks for the pic. Have you clipped the fuel lines to the carbs to the back of the fan housing or the firewall? Behind the fan housing is that a fuel pressure regulator or a pump?

Engine Bay, electric fuel pump location and Oil Breather WTF.

Afternoon, I am taking the winter months to replace my tired 1641, its been great but the shame of leaving drops of oil between home and everywhere I go has gotten too much, the amount of crank movement is also making me nervous about another trip down to the med :-) Screw it I want a new...

    Justkampers vs VWHeritage

Used both, in the past, but on my recent spending spree found coolair a bit cheaper for some some parts, and Machine7 when you can make use of a bundle. I do like the sweets from JK though and they are fast a shipping however quality of some parts are crap, example Rear light lenses and...

Best place to find decent UK camping

I can recommend the cool campings book, I did a tour of the west country and ended up in some very cool and small sites. I got the Europe version too but the sites while cool to tend to be bigger. I can personally recommend: http://treenfarmcampsite.com/ Near Lands End. Pro tip: You cannot...

    1972 change over bay, resto

Ok is been a few weeks since the last update. Some of the panels have had a reaction to some of the primer, the guys have been hard at it trying to sand it down to make the primer stick. The top has been resprayed and set in the oven. The green has been done but dried without the oven...
