    White knuckle driving

This is okay as an initial approximation of load-rating for a given inflation-pressure, but note that the actual inflation-pressure versus load-rating of tyres is non-linear!

I think you might be suffering an attack of mistaken homophones with NET vs NETT and TAUT vs TAUGHT or TORT!?!

Parts Wanted H4 headlights and brighter bulbs for rear lights 1971 DC?

I changed my family's 1973 VW 1600 Type 2 over to P45t flanged 60/55W H4 bulbs in mid-1976 and was surprised at what a radical improvement this made. I further upgraded to P45t flanged 100/80W H4 bulbs in 1989; upgrading the wiring at the same time. As previously stated, the reflectivity of the...

    Clutch fun

There are a few clutches for air-cooled VW Type 1, 2, & 4 style engines! From about the mid-1970s, the VW 1600 Type 2 clutch was of 215 mm diameter, in common with the VW 1800 Type 4 engines. The VW 1700 Type 4 used either a 200 mm or 210 mm diameter clutch and the VW 2000 Type 4 exclusively...

    Heat Exchange Mis fit

The after-market exhaust heat-exchangers and silencers for air-cooled VWs, are reknown for poor fit & finish, and I have written about this many times in Transporter Talk magazine, VW Motoring magazine and various on-line forums. Danskpart, whose whose managing director in Denmark, I had...

    Aircooled Campout 30th June - 2nd July 2023 - SAVE THE DATE

I cannot readily see what those look like!?! The only 1968~79 VW Type 2 stickers that I have, are as follows:

    Oil cooler / oil pump

I believe it was also intended to inhibit oil-surge, whereby oil surges under linear acceleration & deceleration or centripetal acceleration under "high-speed" cornering, resulting in the oil-suction tube being no longer immersed in oil and hence sucking in a mixture of oil & air.

Filling the screenwash bottle without flooding the floor!

I have no experience of substituting the post-1979 windscreen-washer jet-housings, each with two adjustable nozzles, but on my 1974 Triumph Toledo 1300 "HL Special", I re-positioned the original washer-jets, and retro-fitted two identical supplementary washer-jets that I had salvaged from the...

Filling the screenwash bottle without flooding the floor!

I am not sure whether the "SVD/SWW wash-wiper "kit" or SWF/VDO clip-on washer-jet "kit" are still available in Sweden. I know there are now various clip-on washer-jet "kits" available in Great Britain, but they seem rediculously expensive to me! I lost contact several years ago with the SVD/SWW...

Filling the screenwash bottle without flooding the floor!

The Swedish made SVD/SWW wash-wiper bladed were first marketed in Great Britain (in the MOTOR magazine)n during the mid-1980s, but I am not sure whether they are still available, even in Sweden. https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/svd_sww_wash_wiper_blades_sweden.php I hope you were...

Filling the screenwash bottle without flooding the floor!

That's not quite true, but one does need to periodically top-up the inflation pressure before the reservoir is empty of water. The windscreen-washer reservoir can only be filled with a maximum of about 1 litre of water, which might not be enough for a moderately-long journey (i.e. > 100 miles)...

    1 hole head light rim

The one-hole headlamp rims for 1968~73 VW Type 2s, were for those of North American specification, which had sealed-beam headlamp units, mounted in a supplementary light-bucket with headlamp alignment facilities. What sort of RHD, left-dipping headlamp units do you have fitted?

    Engine bolt removal…

That D-shaped headed bolt, which goes through the starter-motor flange, is the opposite side of the engine to the clutch-release lever.

    Tinware paint

£150 seems like a king's ransom to me, so I think I shall stick with Hammerite and a paint brush!

    Tinware paint

I brush-painted all of the cover-plates, fan-housing, engine-compartment bulkhead and fuel tank of my VW 1600 Type 2, with silver-grey (black & other colours available), hammered-finish (effectively camouflages rust-pits and other imperfections) Hammerite paint (implicitly heat-resistant) from...

    Front windscreen replacement?

But you will be if you take it touring in Germany, where they don't take kindly to having their regulations flouted, and might be inclined to impound your vehicle and take you before the magistrate!

Parts Wanted Continental Roof Bed wanted

To what loose pillow bit do you refer? Are you referring to the side seat's triangular cross-section back-rest cushion, which could be used as a pillow? There is a narrow, profiled cushion, which sits on the steel roof at the feet's end of the bed, so that one's feet do not overhang the end of...

Parts Wanted Continental Roof Bed wanted

Make sure that they are very-strong magnets, correctly orientated relative to each other (i.e. North to South poles) and firmly retained within the wood, otherwise the pillow-section could come unfastened when you negotiate a pothole, speed-hump or raised cattle-grid. If you want to contact...
