    Drum brake advice

As sparky says be careful of what wheel cylinders you buy, we are getting lots of failures on cheap wheel cylinders at the moment so wherever possible we fit OEM parts and for that you are looking for either ATE or FTE, these are much better components and should last a good few years, if...

    Fuel Hose and Filter recommendation

Yep we've been fitting the Choline Eco/bio fuel line for the last 5 years or so, we fit it to our own buses and customer vehicles as a matter of course. We buy it in bulk and usually have 20 metres of each size in stock and sell it as a kit with correct fuel line clips and filter, get in touch.

    Leaking front Windscreen seal.

They might have the same description and price point but I doubt they are the same, we will no longer buy seals from C&C after they started making their ‘own’ seals.

    Leaking front Windscreen seal.

Lots of different qualities of windscreen seals out there, where did you buy it from? We only use front window seals from Schofields having had issues with other suppliers. Also if you’ve had work done in that area, new front panel or bulge section the profile is wrong on repair panels and has...

    Newcomer Intro

Hi Jules, as sparky has already pointed out the seat design on late bays is different and they have a structure designed to take the headrests, you might be able to modify your existing seats but the covers would need to be removed to do it or swap to a set of late bay seats with headrests but...

    European Insurance Cover……BE WARNED.

A few years ago most insurers that offered European cover as part of their insurance removed some important aspects due to cost such as repatriation of your vehicle etc, they would get you back but not your bus and didn’t tell anyone just removed it. We always take our a seperate breakdown...

Raise lowered van, but no adjustment left

Thats really not the way to do it as James has said above it should be 2 teeth different between the bottom and the top tube, anymore than that and you are putting unnecessary load on the leaves, they are only supposed to be 'Pre Loaded' not bent to a point where they could snap. I'd be very...

    Machine 7 Closed.

Unfortunately they have not been holding the stock of parts they used to, saying parts are in stock and then you get an email the next day saying its out of stock, most of the Aircooled Mechanics I chat to on a regular basis stopped using them over the last 12 months (including ourselves) for...

Raise lowered van, but no adjustment left

The only real way is to remove the drop spindles if you've reached the full height on the adjusters and then adjust it back down to the height you want to run at, this will worsen the ride though, drop spindles mean you don't have to rely on adjusting the arms so they sit wrong, out of interest...

    Weird noise from hubcap

Just because the split pin is still there does not mean the nut is tight as the drum itself can wear and cause a noise, you really should remove the split pin and check it before going to Cornwall as if it’s loose it will end up stripping the splines on your drum and you will lose drive completely.

    Oil light came on. Help!

I never like having a go at fellow aircooled mechanics but we challenged him on a couple of posts on Facebook as the advice he was giving was wrong and dangerous, rather than taking it on the chin and admitting he was wrong and admitting every day is a school day (like the rest of us), he...

    LHD/RHD conversion

Quite a lot of work involved, chassis mods required to take the RHD pedal set up which you would need to source as they are completely different on LHD (Brake & Clutch) RHD Steering box, Dash , dash crash pad, wiring loom extension, seat runners and a few other bits and you will end up with the...
