Interior lighting in an early bay

Hi, Does anyone have pics of interior lighting running off a leisure battery that doesn't look too modern or involve too much cutting? Cheers :)

Front badge vs spare wheel mount holes

Thanks to you both for all the information. Did you use plastic plugs to mount the badge and if so, can you remember the approximate diameter of the plugs (reason I ask is that my front panel had threaded inserts for bolts which were roughly 7mm in diameter)

Front badge vs spare wheel mount holes

Cheers - that's good news. My PO never bothered with the middle two drillings which might account for the state of my front panel

Front badge vs spare wheel mount holes

Hi, I'm a bit stuck so any help would be very much appreciated. My '71 Westy used to have a spare wheel mounted on the front panel using the standard wheel mount and so has four holes drilled in it. Its in for paint at the moment and its almost ready for primer :D I've decided to put the...

Best type of paint for respray

Thanks - that makes sense as I did tell him that I'd got an aerosol mixed locally by a guy who's normally accurate but couldn't get this particular colour (chianti red) right at all - he kept on making something close but with a purple tinge. Its good to know that its a proper choice and not an...

Best type of paint for respray

Thanks. I'm know nothing about paint myself but the guy said that with this particular paint type the base coat is matt and the clear coat gives it the shine and depth. I'm worried that its not the right type for the kind of life a Westy might lead...

Best type of paint for respray

Hi, I'm talking to a panel beater about getting my Westy resprayed. Its got reasonably solid mostly original paint which is sun burnt down to primer on the roof and a few other areas. The plan is to sand the existing paint and use it as a base, apart from the front panel which was badly...

    Seat material advice

Thanks - that makes sense about the coir. I reckon my chances of getting OG covers for an early bay in the right colour for less than the price of a house are fairly slim  How does the foam compare with the coir for support and comfort on long journeys? Does the lack of breathability...

    Seat material advice

Hi, This is my first post (well, technically my second) here, so be gentle :) I have a '71 Westy with badly worn seat covers. I got a sample of TMI material which matches the colour and copies the basketweave reasonably ok but it doesn't have the little pinholes that the original has. I...

    Getting the engine in

Hi, I think that you're better off balancing it on one decent trolley jack with a wide saddle. That way (with care) you can rock it right and left, forwards and backwards - gives to a lot more flexibility when lining it all up.
