Also see http://dastern.torque.net/Photometry/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; For photometry charts for multiple headlamp units, if you are interested. The cibies are Cibie_7_iso and Hella are Hella_7_iso Sent from my Siswoo C55 using Tapatalk

    Removing rear Hub nuts

Impact gun would work great. But I've always used a 3/4 breaker bar and a 4-5 foot cheater bar, come of easily every time but never really had much corrosion on the threads. Sent from my Siswoo C55 using Tapatalk

Cibie Iode 7" H4 with pilot light are some of the best. Domed style, all glass structure so rust is not an issue.. Apparently light output is better than that of the equivalent Hella h4 7" lamp. They are available for about £40 each I think at demon tweeks, larkspeed or similar. This all...

    Rear wheel bearing

I'm pretty certain c3 wouldn't be required, its extra clearance for thermal expansion. If the other bearing isn't C3 or doesn't allow for increased thermal expansion, then neither should the one you are talking about. Also, I cannot imagine the temperatures we are talking about are even...

    New camp out

I would be up for this if the weekend fits with the current show calendar.. 16th to 18th is Field of Dreams in York 23rd to 25th is Dubs int' Dales. I guess those two won't be on a good 80% of everyone else's calendar who is likely to attend.. The downsides of being up north! Sent from my...

    Rear wheel bearing

Just a thought, does anyone know the size of the bearings? I would imagine they are something you can order off the shelf? No? I cannot imagine VW will have used a special bearing size! Sent from my Siswoo C55 using Tapatalk

    Carb and exhaust combo

Twin 34 ICT's over a centre mounted progressive or similar every time. Vintage speed exhausts are also popular, think I'm one of the odd ones out who doesn't have one or doesn't want one.. My exhaust was custom made by a local company, for less than the price of a VS one. Sent from my Siswoo...

    Weber 34 ict carbs.

The balance pipe smooths out the engine pulses and rectifies any small differences vacuum and/or throttle position at idle and partial throttle. Sent from my Siswoo C55 using Tapatalk

    EARZ

I took some measurements this morning and have recalculated, the area for each vent is actually only approx. 11.75 in^2, which is 0.0815ft^2 per vent. So 0.163ft^2 of total area. I've updated my previous post to show this. Based on those values there is negative air pressure in the engine bay...

    EARZ

I'm sure a simple calc can solve this, albeit without taking into account losses. At about 4000rpm the fan can pull 1350cfm. Say 4000 rpm is 65mph, thats 5720ft/minute. An approximate area of one vent is 11.75in^2. We are talking actually frontal area not the area of the vent at an angle...

    Roof Transplants and Money

How big is the cut out for the sunroof? Can the sunroof be taken out and a new section for that area welded in? Cutting out all of the roof when most of it is rot and rust free seems like a waste of material. Sent from my Siswoo C55 using Tapatalk

    Clutch issue

Have you adjusted it per the manual? Think the measurement is something like 10-20mm of free play at the pedal. Sent from my Siswoo C55 using Tapatalk

Rotten eggs and red hot batteries

Sorry Andy, to clarify my previous post if the alternator itself was broken its likely there would be no output whatsoever. Ultimately its 3 windings(I Think) that are producing an AC output that is rectified and regulated to 14.4v DC, usually the windings don't go wrong but the regulators do...

Rotten eggs and red hot batteries

First check for me would be the output from the alternator. Start the bus and connect a multimeter to the positive pole on the starter battery and the other to ground, bring the revs up to around 2000rpm and see what the output is. It should read something less than 14.5v but more than 13.8v...

    Servicing

Not sure it makes a lot of difference the rotational direction, mine might be the same as the manual.. Can't remember, it went on in the direction which it fit without flattening the 'fins' Sent from my Siswoo C55 using Tapatalk

    Servicing

Same at Stu on my bus, but never fitted a paper gasket as well? Never seen one in the kits?! Its that way around to allow oil to flow back easier I think. It stops oil sitting on the plate. Sent from my Siswoo C55 using Tapatalk
