There are MANY different pulleys all with dimples and notches for different engine set-ups. Have a read through here to see what you have and post more info about your engine, dizzy and carb...

^^^ Nice "new" bumper and even better plate! :lol: I was cleaning out the garage and realised that not only did my panel van come from Belgium ... so did this bag of parts. This bus has been in Canada for decades and the bag survived all this time!

This is all good as I am a fan of leaving my paint dull even though it has had a respray from a previous owner. But ... which paint is used to match the dullness, more than the colour itself, where metal has been replaced?

Sorry but I need to add to this one ... just like engine oil, brake fluid loses its capacity to do its job over time. It is a vital component to the entire brake system often overlooked because of the perceived complexity of the job to replace it. Yes it's a pain but we do drive vintage vehicles...

Check Glutamodo's link in this thread for matching carburetor to distributor to engine. This isn't law but good to see if you have the original set-up in your bus. If not, it may still work and timing may take more research or listen to johnboylaw's experience ... gold :)...

What is the dizzy number/type and carburetor number/type? These are supposed to match the originally specified ones for your engine in order to run most efficiently. Unfortunately over the years owners threw in whatever they could find and if it worked ... it was considered fixed.

Good to hear you probably found the major problem but as others have said ... bleed from the furthest wheel first to the nearest last to get all of the air out.

:D Links work fine ... nice bus. Today I fitted a fire wall in my early 68 that didn't have on from the factory. Easy fit and a bit more safety :D

That's the one. Unfortunately you will need to buy the entire kit to get your missing parts. They are commonly known as Avis adjusters. Beware that there is a difference between the adjusters for the Beetle and the Bus. The diameter of the torsion beam is larger on the Bus so the adjuster is...
