Dropped the engine out 3 weeks ago.
Been waiting for engine bay respray
Been so long I've forgotten what we had done
I ended up respraying the engine bay. I had to move the bus a bit out of the garage .
Like an idiot I forgot I had the gear box sitting on blocks and it dropped off the blocks and has been sagging down on its own weight for a day or so!

When we fitted the engine back in today and tried to push the bus back I realised the gear stick wasn't normal , all wonky lol !
My machanic was in a rush to leave as he had an appointment to get to. He said it's prob nothing to worry about but we will look in a couple of weeks time when he can make it round next!
What u guys recon I've done ? I've obviously messed something up?

Might have bent the gear shift rod or damaged some of the linkage

Possibly, yeah- although there is a hinged linkage between gearbox and shaft, you can never tell properly until you look...

Yep, shifter will be bent.

Last bus I bought was supposed to come with an engine, when it arrived they'd pinched the engine and left the box hanging which had bent the shifter.

Just about make it out here..

Also when you replace it don't go for the cheap repro ones, there pants!

You might be lucky and its only the flexible link rather than the shaft, in which case its a simple replacement part.

my shaft was bent from a PO :shock:

its quite a job but only possible when the gearbox and engine are out....I'd drop the gearbox now and see - you should be able to unhook at the front and just pull the rod out and check before taking it all the way out - from memory BUT check the end does dip very slightly....

I'm just not gonna get time over the next week to look at it
So busy at moment I'm just getting the odd 20 min here and there
Hopefully nothing to bad. Next weekend I'll find out what I've done !

Monki I will know more not this weekend but next when I have another good session on the bus.
If I need couplings I know where to come , thank you very much
