    My T2a pickup project!

The air goes in and any particles that come in with it stick in the oil, cleaning the air before it enters your carb. The orange line indicates the fill level. From what I hear if it is properly set up it works better than the paper filter types.

    Kick Panel Chalk Markings

Woohoo!!!! :bliss: Thanks so much everyone ... well most of you  I guess I was stuck thinking that these were factory markings but now proven that the kick panels were recovered at some point. My panel van was originally delivered to Belgium so this makes complete sense. I won't be...

    Fuel tank

My '68 tank is the same as Andy's, that one you have might be for a crossover only. These pages are from the '68 parts book, printed in '71. So this tank came from a bus with VIN 212 2000 001 or higher. But would it fit a late bay as well? Looks like it could fit late bays as well ... but...

    Removing wheels

I agree with Rich on the 2 splines ... or maybe a spline and horseshoe plates? Did you try removing the wheel as Graham explained? If that doesn't work then maybe you'll have to unbolt the bottom of your shock so the wheel will lower enough ... what a pain! Well done posting pics :)

    Removing wheels

I agree with those who posted ... there shouldn't be an issue with removing those wheels/tires if you're only one spline down in the rear. I'm running 205/70R14 on stock steelies and have no problem taking the wheels off being one spline down. Pics would really help to understand and help out...

    Which oil

What they said. I just did this Saturday ... easy job as I did follow some advice from others. Remove your refill plug (left side) first followed by the drain plug (far rear bottom.) They can be seized quite good from what I hear so if your refill plug doesn't want to release at least you will...

What did you do with your early bay today

Excited that parts are on their way so I set up a workbench, in from the bitter winter cold, to rebuild my 1600 single port :D

    '70 Bay

    It depends on the model and the date of manufacture for your bus. Choose the proper chart and hope your bumper still has original paint colour. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/colorstype2.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

    Tailgate rubber

Agreed. I discovered a significant leak after my bus was parked rear end low for a week of rain. I noticed that my rear window rubber was dried and letting in water. There was absolutely no rust on the window frame, the water was getting in between the rubber and the window and escaping out the...

205/60/R15 tyres on the back of my bay...

Not the same wheel size, but the width is the same and mine have a higher sidewall. I have 205/70/R14 on stock steelies and there's lots of clearance with one notch down in the rear ... so yours should fit if your wheel offset provides clearance from suspension and wheel arch.

    I've got a hole

I could help as I have nothing to do tomorrow and a spare you can have ... problem is I'm in Canada :msn4:

    Fly wheel nut

Good to hear you have access to power tools when needed. Rear axle nuts that haven't been off in a while can be a bugger too.

    Mid 68 wiring diagram?

I have a January 68 and had a heck of a time finding the right diagram ... don't think I ever did actually. There's a difference between US and Euro wiring diagrams too. I found these helpful and kept them. Not sure for exactly which components, but hope they help. I used the two previous...

    Fly wheel nut

It's normal. After trying the same as you I put the engine and socket in the back of my car, drove to the nearest garage and he had it off in 2 seconds with an impact gun. No charge either ... I guess he had a soft spot for a classic VW :)

    Westfalia Funeral Trailers

I have been interested in these too, but I have never seen or heard of one here in Canada and they are rare in the US. These aren't mine but saved from the almighty google pics thingy. Matchy matchy ... Love the paint on this one ... It would be funny to tow one painted like this ...
