OEM is heavier; but be aware that some variations exist, so you might not pick up a breast plate that works with the pulley tin for instance. It should fit really well and cleans up nice if blasted/powdercoated.

You do not need the seals, and as they are poor quality aftermarket you will soon find them in pieces inside your engine. The only time VW has put oil seals on heads any time recently was the Mexican FI heads to keep oil from polluting the cat, and they were 'proper' seals, not the nasty little...

If you are going to run J pipes then use the industrial tin to keep the heat away from the heads - yes, VW supplied heater boxes for all markets for a reason, they don't just heat the interior but also cool the pipes under the heads. Al

Bosch no longer make alternators, and the end of the run from Brazil had the scrapings thrown in. Chinese ones are a mixed bag - some are good, some are bad - and you may not know for a year. German generators last, and good used alternators are often a better bet. Al

You might want to keep an eye on the amp output of the alternator, as these are not Bosche, but Chinese, and have been known to drop to single digits within a year. It's a shame Bosch has got too big to care about the air-cooled market as it could have been making its own 75amp ones in Brazil. Al
