Ok earlybayers i need your help,

Following on from my previous thread about what fitting to use for my oil pump, I got the heritage 3/8npt 90 degree brass fitting, I am using aeroquip push on hose fittings for all my oil lines, My problem is this the heritage 3/8 90 degree fitting does not clear my engine support bar, lots of people on here have performance engines so I was wondering if you could tell me how you got round this problem and what fitting you used. I dont really want to have to modify the engine support bar if I dont have to

Thanks

Pete

Can you post a photo so we can see the problem, might have an idea if I see what the issue is.

Uber cool,

i cant get to the van at the moment, the problem is is that the engine bar hits the brass fitting because of how wide it is, once i fitted the support bar it has twisted my brass fitting buggering the thread, I think i need a slimmer one

Pete

Hey Pete, I think I may have mentioned to you at Ninove, one of mine exits straight into a 90deg elbow straight down to clear the bar mount onto the case, then the flex of the rubber takes it away sideways to the filter. I can get a picture if you really need it....

ok no worries, think kI see what you mean, suggest you take the part along to a local air or hydraulics supplier, there is usually a slimline or miniuture verison of fittings available. Did this for my porsche engine the other week cost me £3 instead of £45 at a Porsche part supplier.

If you are not near one try Pirtex or RS components, a little more expensive but at lease you can browser online and see what's available.

Slammed,

Everything else i can get to clear no problem it just the brass fitting that goes into the oil pump cover that hits the bar, i think it is as simple as finding a slimmer brass fitting, I was just wondering if anyone had the same problem and what brass fitting they used

Uber cool,

Cheers for the info I will see what i can find

We had a similar problem with the fittings on Monty and ended up notching the engine support bar enough so the brass fittings would clear it, I think we ended up using a banjo bolt to turn the outlet through 90 degrees and used a 45/135 degree angled fitting to attach the pipe to which helped

Bought a brass fitting from Speedshop a few years back that screwed into the oil pump cover (side outlet) that cleared the EB engine support bar without any need for modification.

Oh, I also spaced the bar away from the engine with a couple of washers.

Cheers for the responses guys, I will try the speedshop, I have searched through think automotive I tried a straight male fitting but that did not help, I dont need much room, i will have a look at spacing or notching the support bar then, nothing is ever easy is it,

graham, work may take me back to solihull tomorrow, are you about for me to have a look at monty ?

Yes mate, if I'm not in Dave will be there,

I use one of these with an NPT to JIC adaptor

Thanks DNA, I have tried one of those but it blocked the mounting hole, unless I can find a 90 degree male fitting I need to use the brass one first

Now why don't they pre-clearance fittings supplied in a bus kit?

Here is my full flow, with a 45° fitting and 0.5" spacers between the engine bar and the case.

Thats similar to mine though my fitting on the oil pump is a straight one. There was no need for spacers. You do need to "modify" (hammer a dent in the back of) the tin that fits behind the pulley to stop it being pushed out of line by the right angled connector in the block though.

Is the pushrod tube in the photo copper or is it a trick of the light? :)

It's a Scat gold push rod tube, but they will be replaced by my home made push-rods tubes when they go back from anodization.

Spacers between the case and the bar are to clear the swiwell ends of the hoses.
