    Vehicle For Sale 1972 Crossover

Very reluctant sale. I’m not using her as much now and she needs a new home. Tax and MOT exempt. I’ve owned her since 2009 and have spent loads on the upkeep. Full Sea Blue over white respray in 2010 but the body work is now showing signs of surface/lower rusting and will need attention if you...

    Accelerator spring

Evening. Hope someone can advise. I was looking under my floor mats today and noticed that there was no accelerator pedal return spring fitted. I've never noticed a problem when driving but should there be one? What type of pedal and fitting do I have on my 1972 Bay Crossover? I can see online...

    Burning smell

Today's update and thanks for all the advice. Took the van out this morning and no smell:unsure: Maybe it was seized brakes after standing in all the rain we've had down here in Cornwall Took her to the local village 'old school' garage and the guy checked the alternator. Voltage readings are...

    Burning smell

Checked wheels and all spin ok. Handbrake engages as it should. Tightened fan belt as looked a little loose. Van stared first time (would it if the alternator was knackered??) Ran for a while until hot and no smoke or abnormal smells inside or outside of van or in engine compartment Dipstick...

    Burning smell

Thanks for this. I'll have a look tomorrow. What am I looking/listening for when I spin the alternator? Not the clutch then??

    Burning smell

Hi all Fitted an Empi Single Quiet Pack Muffler recently to my 1972 XO bay. I drove the van 5 weeks ago about 100 miles. Admittedly it was raining and windy (as normal down here in Cornwall this year) and noticed no issues, in fact she drove lovely. She's been standing on the drive since. Took...

    Cornwall VW mechanics

Hi there. It's been ages since I was on this forum, for various personal reasons BUT I have never given up my 1972 Crossover Bay! I have now moved down to near Liskeard in Cornwall and I am struggling to find anyone nearby with the skills to help me look after the van (I can do only basic stuff...

    small camping fridge

This fridge measures 40cm deep, 48cm wide and 45cm high. It is is good condition and working order and has an ice compartment. Not sure about the internal light though?? Generally the white case is perfect but there is the odd tiny scratch and discolouration. Works off a std household plug...

    Tyre load rating

Thanks mate. Solves the letter at the end issue. Still not sure what load rating a camper needs though. Current tyre at 90 looks a little low.

    Tyre load rating

Had a big blow out on the rear tyre this weekend. Tyre rating is 90S but some tyres seem to have 99T on them. However, i think the R14C is the key. Is the C a correct load rating? Is this enough for a T2 camper? Any advice would be appreciated before i buy a new one.

    Tyre rating

Cheers mate. No issues just a lot of noise and rumbling from the back end! Any ideas on the load rating? What's on yours?

speedo works but the odo doesnt

Thanks Sparkywig. Once the water has dropped and i feel like crawling rather than swimming under my van, i will check that.

speedo works but the odo doesnt

Sorry to hijack this thread but neither the speedo or odo works on mine now. It was ok driving the other day but when i started her up for the return journey, nothing! Is this a full cable job? Is this easy to do and what do i need to know?

3/4 length roof rack for sale

Due to a failed negotiation this is now back on the market. This is a steel frame with wooden slats. In good condition and curved to fit a t2 tin top roof. No rot to the wooden slats. One or two of the y shaped brackets that hold it to the gutter are a little tarnished. Will look good on any tin...
