Been away from the scene but itching to come back.

Cheers guys, the wiring is fine now after I ripped out the new butchered loom and fitted another new one myself. It’s just the mechanics that I need help doing, I’m capable of doing it all myself but just haven’t hit the time to do it, if I don’t get someone else to do it for me the poor old...

Cheers Ozziedog, I’ll take a look. I’d like it to go to a specialist really as the last recommended person I used to rewire my van after a small fire put the new loom in the wrong way round and then cut it to pieces!

Been away from the scene but itching to come back.

Hi All, I’ve been away from the scene over the last few years , I recently started my own company and it’s taken over my life a bit, my poor little westy has sat in the garage for 2 years and not moved since! I need to get her back out on the road this summer but could do with some help. I’m...

    Public liability insurance

Guys, I know a few of you on here do wedding transport with your vans, I’ve done a few myself for friends and people that I know , word has got out and I’m getting a lot of people asking me to do it now. What sort of cost is the public liability insurance for doing this? Not sure wether to push...

    Key turning but no start

Yep, it was the switch. Shite parts yet again! So if anyone wants an ignition barrel I've got one sat here doing nothing!

Do you a have a decent uncracked steering wheel?

    Key turning but no start

I've just replaced the ignition switch a few weeks ago, the key has always turned a long way round but now decided not to spring back. Just ordered a new barrel. Hopefully that'll sort it.

My fuel gauge needle flickers back and forwards between empty and it's current fuel level ?

I've ordered a cheap stabiliser from eBay for around £4, as they are £30ish from the usual suspects, not even sure if they are compatible with my gauge but as I've got two I'll risk killing one. I'll update as soon as it arrives.

Well that was what I thought, so I've also got a new gauge! 😂

My fuel gauge needle flickers back and forwards between empty and it's current fuel level ?

Mine does the same thing, I've just had a complete new wiring loom and a new sender and it still flickers. I've ordered a voltage stabiliser to fit to the back of the gauge, might work , might not. Don't really know what else to try.

    Key turning but no start

Hi all, my ignition key seems to be turning all the way round past the start position without starting the engine, it doesn't spring back neither, although the starter motor clicks, after 15-20 attempts it finally starts. I've not got time to look at it today but where should I start? New...

Have you got a decent offcut of the cargo floor above the engine? (To repair an access hatch for the fuel sender)

    Advice/diagnosis needed

Cheers mate, luckily I carry I spare pump with me. When I get to Newquay I'll swap it over and hopefully that'll sort it. Would fuel in the oil cause the rear main seal to keep giving up on me?

    Advice/diagnosis needed

Yeah I know it's engine out job, I've replaced it about 4 times in last 2 years (mainly due to shite retro parts!) I just don't wanna be doing it again when there's something else causing it to give up. I've just checked the oil breather and it seems clear. Is there anything else to check? I'm...

    Advice/diagnosis needed

So, I've travelled from Kent to longleat, longleat to brixham, got a few days here before heading to Newquay, when I arrived at longleat my rear main seal had given up again, I only replaced it a few months back and it's been bone dry until now, also the rear of the bus was covered in small oil...

    Voltage stabiliser

Hi all, just wondering wether you can fit the voltage stabilisers that go to the back of the fuel gauge to the earlier buses? Mines a 1970 US bus but I seem to remember reading that they only came on 73- onward buses? I've just re wired my whole van and fitted a new sender but the gauge is still...

Rear cargo floor off cut wanted

Will that fit an earlybay? It says 72-79 does anyone know if the profile of the later vans is the same?
