Hi All, I’ve been away from the scene over the last few years , I recently started my own company and it’s taken over my life a bit, my poor little westy has sat in the garage for 2 years and not moved since! I need to get her back out on the road this summer but could do with some help.

I’m looking for some recommendations for someone that could take her away on a trailer and give her a going over and get her ready for the summer. I’ve got a new flywheel and seal to fit, fuel needs draining and fuel hoses changing etc, fuel gauge is also very erratic, full service and tune up, and anything else that needs doing.

I’m based on the isle of sheppey in Kent, any local recommendations would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Brett.

Hey there Bigbear, welcome back and glad to have you back. Can’t help with recommendations over that side of the country unfortunately but there’s some good guys over on the LateBay that might point you in the right direction as there’s a heck of a lot more of them .

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,good luck with it bud

Cheers Ozziedog, I’ll take a look. I’d like it to go to a specialist really as the last recommended person I used to rewire my van after a small fire put the new loom in the wrong way round and then cut it to pieces!

I'd recommend "bigherb", not a scotch lock or halfords connector in sight. He uses lycra connectors, proper electrical crimps, sheaths etc and has been working on my own bys to remove all extra additions/sub standard wiring to be safer.

He's also a former AA recovery person as well as lecturer/teacher toother patrol people. He's sound and friendly, based near biggins hill though.

Cheers guys, the wiring is fine now after I ripped out the new butchered loom and fitted another new one myself.

It’s just the mechanics that I need help doing, I’m capable of doing it all myself but just haven’t hit the time to do it, if I don’t get someone else to do it for me the poor old van will spend another summer in the garage.

Can recommend Ricky Cox and Steve at Wonkey Donkey, he moved to Margate a couple of years ago. Nice guys
