    Power Light starter motor

I've just fitted a new starter motor on my van, it's a Power Light RAC525 one. It fits well but the leads only just fitted on my one, the big bonus is that it doesn't need the starter motor bush! Dave

    Hot start problem

Try the coil, they normally start to fail when hot and often get worse, I had this with my Land Rover. Dave

    Recommend a UK campsite please

We've been to Rother Valley quite a few times now, we love it. We used Fallow Fields a few weeks ago, great site, it has paths and pitches cut into the long grass and they have a pizza night and a forest school set up for kids on the odd days. Rush Banks in Suffolk just north of Colchester is...

    Generator light coming on

That's right, the terminal 61 is no longer wired to the split charger.

    Generator light coming on

Problem solved! Volksfarmers in Elham had a look and have sorted it out. The instructions say to connect one of the cables to terminal 61 of the voltage regulator (the same one as the generator warning light). They changed this to the live on the coil, which is where the old split charger was...

    Generator light coming on

I forgot to say that the generator warning light is dull, not as bright as when I turn the ignition on before starting. Also one of the previous split charging wires went to the coil, I followed the instructions and the new wire goes to terminal 61 instead. The existing charging light wire is...

    Generator light coming on

It's been a 'good' week  Firstly the split charging system has failed killing off the leisure battery, then I've lent our awning out which has come back with a massive rip before our trip next week. I've just fitted a new split charging relay kit from VW heritage and the generator light...

    Some light advice, please

Hello Clean, My early bay has the spots mounted inside the bumper, a previous owner cut 2 round holes in it and welded a short section of round tubing. The spots then mount inside this, I haven't seen it on any other busses yet but looks nice. I'm looking at led bulbs for my one, partly due to...

    Shite lights

Hopefully the link works as computers aren't my strong point but my spots are set into metal tubes welded into the bumper. I can't take credit a previous owner did it about ten years ago. I think they look good and give more light, they work off a separate switch, Dave. https://flic.kr/p/RnuwNW

    Sites in Dorset and Cornwall

We stayed in Ayr holiday park in St Ives, very nice but a little expensive, but the wife loved it and it's a short walk down a very steep hill to town. It has a small pool, good views and you even get wifi in the van. It's not to far to Lands End for a day trip. Dave

    Dormobile 'dickie' seats

My one had 2, one was in front of the cupboard by the side door, the other was in between the cupboard and the rear of the drivers seat by the walk through. Hope it helps, Dave

    LPG converted vans

My first van Had lpg fitted, I didn't have any issues other than it had to turn over a few more times when starting on gas compared with petrol. I was also going to take a feed off it to run the hob on so I didn't have a normal gas bottle as well, but I sold it and got the van I have now. Dave

    Interior lighting

I've got 2 stock interior lights with cool white LEDs, they give quite a nice light but not too bright. Dave

    Engine bay fire

I've got a blazecut system in my bus, it a 2m long hose pipe filled with liquid, when a fire melts the outside it realises the liquid that turns to gas. All you need to do is cable tie it in place and unless you look right above the engine you can't see it. There's a very good video on YouTube...

    Electric Hook Up

I was going to but decided against it and brought a plug in reel of cable with 3 pin sockets on from Go Outdoors as it was cheap and easy. The bonus is I can leave the plug in cool box in the awning when we are out for the day. Dave

They are KYB GR-2 made in Thailand and are gas filled if it makes a difference? Thanks, Dave

    shock recommendations

I have a slightly lowered van with 35cm between the upper and lower shock mounts at the front, has anyone got any recommendations for which ones to fit? The problem I have is that over bumps the suspension bottoms out with a bang so I will need some with a fare bit of resistance. Thanks, Dave

    Problems removing speedo cable

I'm trying to remove the speedo cable from the rear of the speedo and having issues. I've undone the large knurled securing nut by hand but the cable still won't move. I'm a bit worried about using too much force as I don't want to break it. The Hayes manual can't help, am I being a complete...
