I have just bought a 520 amps battery from halfords. Would that should be OK? I assume as it is between a 45 and a 60?

    New battery advice

Hi, My battery has died and will not charge up because it is so old. Need to buy another and looking at various web sites I assumed incorrectly that I would just order another but they appear to be made for different vehicles. My exisitng battery is so old there is no markings on it to help me...

Battery dead... long live the battery...

Topped the water up, had the battery on charge, refitted, but... not enough power to get the van going... called out a 'man in the know' (breakdown assistance)... and the technical term was that the battery was shagged. Will need to seek out a new one ASAP. Anyway, the 'man in the know' got the...

Battery dead... long live the battery...

With the sun shining I have just gone to start up my van and it is dead... the battery. I have removed it and now have it on charge. On the basis it is completely dead I presume no issues with recharging as it is flat as a pancake? Might need to top up the water... I'm in mega countdown mode...

    No life in the van

Stupid question i know but i am not mechanically minded which I know is not a good thing for a van owner... Thought it was time to take the van out for a run... hasn't been fired up for at least 4 weeks if not slightly longer but there is absolutely no life in her at all. Doesn't turn over and...

is yours tucked up for the winter???

Sadly yes. Don't have a garage but rent a car parking space where it is stored but with a Protec cover protecting as much as possible. Just had a chat with my missus on our first trip of 2009 which is looking likely to be driving across spain from Santander and then ferry to Morroco for some...

So you got an extra hour this weekend - what did you do with

TBCH - I planned to re-wax the roof on my Dorm... give it a good winter protection... and then my youngest daughter crached into my youngest son (i've 4 kids in total) and then spent some time at the emergency dentist as daugher no.2 bashed back her front teeth 45 degrees... son no.2 completely...

Credit Crunch.. Property crashing.. But if all else fails...

... Sell the van... I'd put that comment on a par with Strongy thinking Carol Voderman looked hot! Like the idea of a South of France commune... What is the collective noun for a load of Earlybayers? a 'Bay' of vans? South of France a definite location for the new group... any ideas where else?

Credit Crunch.. Property crashing.. But if all else fails...

My good lady is rightly concerned with what is happening in the world today... as I am too to a certain point but have an ace up my sleeve... have floated the idea that if the world went t1ts up we would be better off than many others... "how she enquired..." our Dormobile will see us and kids...

    driving abroad

Having spent 3 weeks this year in Europe driving through France, Switzerland and Italy... the only thing I carried (apart from the GB sticker, triangle etc...) was my breakdown recovery telephone number just in case! Luckily... 2,000 miles+... didn't need it. With 3 kids and a load of gear I had...

    Thermal / Accoustic Insulation

On the basis I am trying to get the most out of the van before the cold weather hits I am planning a trip to the South of France in late October. I have been thinking about investing in some insulation mainly for keeping the cold out as opposed the noise aspect. Idea came to me when looking at...

    JK Cover

To add my thoughts... I did invest in a slightly cheaper version of the JK cover from eBay but it was a) too short as I had a Dormobile roof, b) the material whilst similar to that of the JK didn't appear to eliminate moisture and the level of heat absorbed by the van gave me some concerns. Now...
