ok, sigh. It is with a very very heavy heart that I have decided to put my rare 1967 Original UK Supplied RHD VW T2 Early Bay Kombi Camper for sale.
I searched for a long time to find an Early '1967' UK supplied RHD Bay, becoming quite rare now - but now with 4x Vee'dubs, a R32 vR6 T5 and an Audi RS4 Avant in the household - AND a house move on the horizon - I'm now forced to sell my VW Bus Project along with my VW Beetle.
Both original M-Plates intact, matching V5 present, UK Historic vehicle status - so naturally MOT & Road-Tax exempt.
So, this Bus was intended to be a high spec 'Restomod' Tesla or VW EV-conversion with Porsche 944 Brakes all-around - with some assistance from the guys at Creative Engineering.
At some point early on in it's life, it underwent a Camper van Pop-top conversion using, I believe GENTLUX caravan conversions.
There is NO Engine, Gearbox, hubs or wheels - as the plan was to fully convert to Porsche hubs, all-round Brake discs and wheels.
I would say 75% of the chassis has been done:
• Out-riggers
• Cross Members
• Inner Sills on both sides
• Outer Sills on both sides
• Cab Floor
• Main Floor
• Front Panel
The rear chassis legs require further welding, and do both the Rear arches. Some of this was attempted by the previous owner, but I would get them re-done.
He used Klokkerholm panels, which I personally wouldn't bother with.
So, 2x replacement rear arches would be required - ideally from Custom and Commercial, AutoCraft Engineering or Alan Schofield. I would also recommend replacement of rear quarter panels whilst carrying out this work.
Interior, Exterior and Underside has been coated with Isopon Zinc 182 Anti Rust Primer - but (as this is typically for shorter-term), ideally needs to be re-done or better blasted off from underneath.
Complete with various original One Year only Parts:
• All Glass windows present
• 3x RHD Early Bay Sliding Doors (one in very good condition & lots of spare parts)
• 2x Original 1967/68 one year only Front Doors (require some welding to the bottoms)
• 1967 rear view mirror
• New Steel Early Bay VW Front Emblem
• Dashboard, Dials with Working VDO clock, refurbed
• Headlights & Rear lights
• Steering wheel, column etc
• Rear Valance apron
• Rear Engine Lid
• Front & Rear Bumpers Professionally RESTORED and painted in cloud white - Both look Brand New (very hard to come by in this condition)
• Bumper Brackets front and rear
• Front Beam and control arms
• Complete Dark Blue VELOUR Interior - 1960's 'original' Jaguar Velour luxury interior, very expensive to source and looks the biz
same Dark Blue colour, and similar design to Original factory spec:
2x Front Seats
2x Middle Seats (exactly same as the front pair)
1x rear Bench seat
-easily enough to carry 6 people comfortably
• GENTLUX Fibre Glass Roof Pop-Top (requires struts, refurb etc)
• PORSCHE 944 S2 Turbo Front & Rear Brake Calipers (require refurb)
• Various bits and spares collected over the years...
- With Original period correct, very rare Thule Roof gutter Bars!
- With Original Keys (1-key to open ALL locks)
- AND 2x Repair Manuals
- AND Original Volkswagen Owner's Hand Book / Instruction Manual from August 1967 !
- AND Expensive Maypole Full Vehicle All-weather Cover
I have spent a considerable amount of time and effort over the years sourcing various bits ... and I'm gutted to have to part with it.
This is an un-finished Project, reflected in the asking price.. with some welding still required and in truth some of the welding completed by the previous owner(s), could be tidied up further still.
Personally, would get the complete shell all blasted and prepped properly.
Would prefer it to go to an enthusiast like me, before listing further-a-field..
-Will need to be trailered away on a suitable dolly, ideally straight to a body-shop. We're happy to assist with the loading of it onto a suitable trailer.
