OK, as it goes sometimes, and just before this goes on the road, something has come up that now ticks a few additional boxes for me, so this is now potentially up for sale.
It’s a 1969/1970 Early Bay Westafalia S067 Camper that is currently just finishing off a full bare metal renovation by the guys at Southern Kombi Parts. No expense spared, no corners cut, as much OG metal saved as possible, this is your chance to own a genuinely 100% solid Early Bay camper!
If you want to see all the pics and work done, then just go to http://www.vdubxs.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and you can see all the good, the bad and the ugly of all the work as it has progressed to this point, you can even follow the on-going work as it progresses if you want via the website or on twitter @vdubxs as well…
The plan for it is to remain a stock bus, so paint wise the plan is to paint it it’s original stock colour (L87 Pearl White), but if you wanted to commit to a non-refundable deposit, then you can choose the colour combo that you want it to be, as well as choosing the colour combo for the interior door cards/panels etc. after that it will be too late, as the paint will have been ordered. Other additional options like lowering etc. can be discussed if you want to go that way instead of stock?
Interior wise it has it’s original 4 berth Westy interior (minus the stool) which is all in pretty decent condition for its age. It will be on a set of 5x blasted and colour coded original steel wheels with brand new tyres. Brakes will also be new front to back, the engine is a 1600, new window/door rubbers throughout, new original Westafalia specification roof canvas (not a nasty cheap, wrong colour, badly fitting repro version!).
The paint finish that the guys at Southern Kombi Parts do is superb, along with all the other work they do, so you will definately not be disappointed in the end result (MOT’d and on the road) which is due in approx. 6 weeks time (end of July).
If it sells, then so be it, if not then we will keep it and have a great van for the summer!
Price is pretty much what it has cost, so if you want it, it’s £19,000
