Hi All,
New to this so please be patient,
I've just started importing Type 2's from South Africa and need some information regarding a rather odd 1969 Baywindow microbus with 'cargo' or 'barn doors' rather than a sliding one and extra windows where the rear vents usually are.
I've been doing my research and can only find conflicting and vague info regarding such vehicles stating they are possibly from Brazil, however this vehicle is RHD and was apparently shipping from the UK to SA in the 70's
Any info or help regarding this type of bus would be most appreciated

Its a fleetline, they were made out of brazillain left overs then were shipped out as a kit. You will see them with a spilt or bay face on them pick up or kombi, i know they run king and link pin front suspension maybe reduction boxes out back. I think the panels are odd too as they were a kit they dont have a long panel as its in 2 sections, doors who knows and the front has the vw embossed into it, i think you would need to know a bit about vw's to get parts for it as if you ask for something for a 69 bus it almost certainly won't fit.
by the way the doors are cargo doors, a barn door is the engine lid on an early split.

Isn't there a load of old mercs out there? these might be a better bet if you don't know much about vw's.
I've had vw's for 20 years and they are possibly the shittest things i've every owned but i love them, I know a bit about them now so i'd advise not getting into fleetlines.

Sounds like you are referring to a 'Fleetline', but 69 sound a bit early for one of them.

Best of luck getting buses out of SA at a reasonable price and in reasonable condition, I gave up handling RHD buses out of SA due to the condition they arrived in. The markets fairly full at the moment and there are lots of other traders doing this.

make sure you tell who ever you sell one to they need a very fat wallet  as parts are not cheap ,and thats if you can find them

OH I'LL SAY IT THEN.

sounds like "new to this" and "just started importing" is another way of saying jumping on the vw bandwagon.

apologise if i'm wrong but i'd say some poor bugger who really wants to be into dubs for the love will buy one and be really up pooh creek

Hi all thanks for your feedback I did post a long reply but for some reason it hasn't listed it?!?
As for jumping on the bandwagon?!? My credentials and family history for dealing in classic VW will stand up to any scrutiny!!
see my 'about us' section on http://www.hartsmotors.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for details

Anyway genuine thanks for all the info, I have already bought and paid for this Fleetline in SA so not sure what to do with it now?!? :?
