1971 Westfalia Campmobile for Sale
Recently imported from the USA this ex-show winning bus is in immaculate condition throughout. Delivered new in 1971 from the VWUSA dealership in Birmingham, Alabama, there is a full service history from new, it has covered just 120k miles in that time and been meticulously maintained by each owner over the period.
In 2002 the bus was repainted correctly in the original colour of Chianti Red at great expense. This showed the body to be absolutely rust free and all original - having benefited from living most of it's life in the Deep South. All glass was removed during painting and all new rubbers fitted.
The interior has the original Westfalia Campmobile fitments including pumped water, sink, coolbox and spice rack, tables and rare buddy seat all in fantastic condition.
The original 1600cc engine was completely stripped down and rebuilt by a VW specialist in 2005 and runs perfectly. This is the best driving bus you will ever find - it is on a par with a 1972 30k original miler I previously owned and returning from Vanfest to Devon cruised comfortably at a steady 70mph on the M5 all the way home.
I thought I would be keeping this van for a long time, but reluctantly it is for sale to fund other VW based business interests - for which I am looking for late model ( eeek ) 74-79 rhd 4 berth bays with low miles and top condition - pls get in touch if you know of any - or p/ex may be possible with this 71 Bay.
Recent Early Bay Westfalias in this condition have sold for between £13k and £15k - this one is priced at £ 12,500 firm.
