I've just got my hands on a 6 fin gearbox (4 speed) from an original 60 horse 1.6 twinport CT code aircooled T25 (1981).

As the engines are the same profile will it bolt straight on? What problems will i have fitting this into my 71 bay? will i need anything from the t25 running gear? and will the input shaft be correct or need fettling?

anyone out there done this before?

no one with a 6 fin box from a 2L bay? :?

i was wondering what code they are as i think this cogbox might be the same as its from an early T25?

Every T25 Ive had or worked on has had the side mounted ball/socket gear shift mechanism ... is this one the same as a bay?

i dunno much about gearboxes. I'll have to take a look at the weekend. i guess it will be a problem then fitting it?

the engine is CT code but i cant find anything out about t25s with CT code engines and what gearbox is married with it, whether its side mounted or nose shift?

Well the CT engine is for all intense purposes a pancacked T1 engine so the drive shaft and bell housing wont be a problem, however the nose cone Im not sure on without the actual code having never worked on a 25, you may be lucky being that the CT was the early budget engine .... :?

I had a chat with Pete at 'Cogbox' (nice chap) and he confirmed that the nose is totally different and its body is also longer. He said this box wouldnt make much difference in fourth anyway.

...so i guess im on the hunt for a 1303s box again :( .

Pete is indeed a chilled out chap 8)

His Fiat is awesome too!!
