After taking mixed advise on witch gearbox I should put in my bus along with a 1776 lump I'm left totaly confused .
Iv already managed to find a AH code irs box out of I think a super beetle but I Aparantly need a adapter kit to install into my 71 Westy what is this and where do I get one of these ?
Or should I try and find a 6 rib box ?
What would perform better ?
I just want to sit at cruising speed 70ish without murdering the engine .
Any advise welcome .

The adaptor kit was made by a chap on this forum rather than from a shop.
There is a shop who makes them i think it's in the states Graham L may know, it might have been oldspeed.

A few people like the 6rib a few don't.

Personally I would change the ring and pinion in your box for the same as drewnsteph or mycha.
This will give you a nice box that you know is spot on as it will have been rebuilt as part of the ring and pinion change.
If you buy second had you don't really know what your getting.

Regards the beetle box if you chose that route you want an AT or AN from memory
