Hiya geezer,

Dunno if a righty will fit a lefty.

But these things are damnably expensive. And even harder to find. Take a look.............

Of course, that's for a rebuilt (if they had one in stock!) but it reflects what one of these suckers is worth used. And that's a crapshoot too 'cause a used one could be a bad one.

Check with Mat at Southern Kombi Parts as i know he picked up a couple at my house and the container is already at his shop. If he is sold out i am sending another bus over to him in about 4 weeks and i could add the steering box out of my 72 parts bus if you can make a deal with him for it. It is in good shape

ahem what do you know about hypoid gearing?

recon steering boxes cost money for a reason sadly most companies dont actually recon them.....

it aint easy to do at home infact bastard hard.... your best bet is to find a local old school engineering firm get a good price then pass that info onto everyone here

seriosly a pukka recon is hard to find with these boxes.....

yo araon how you doing

most of my mates build nuclear subs and guns
bit of luck 1 off them should be able to help

might get one off them to sneek it in there lunch box

ps..does any one have a problem with a nuclear sub project going on hold till they fix my box

well striped box today
1.small amount off play in bearings
2.worm-gear had chewed up edge
3.worm guide bush had flat spot
i was lucky not to have any play in shaft

so i buffed worm-gear edges with fine abrasive wheel so it was equal all the way round.
worm guide bush did the same .cleaned all up greased put back together.
then removed 1 shim plate from the back off the four bolt square plate to push cap in fervor this has taken
the play out off the bearings new oil seals .
fit back on the bus hay presto we have a winner no more clunking :D

if any body needs some oil seals i can get them but will have to work out a price with me boss
