So I'm thinking about selling my microbus,
She is a 1969 (sept 68 build) Cali import that I imported myself two years ago. After spending a year looking for the right bus in the uk (not a rust box, or a rust box with shiny paint sprayed over the top!) I decided to source one from America myself.
So long story short after a quick rewire for uk lights and a replaced front valance (inner) this is what I have...
Any mechanical work has been done by myself (I'm an helicopter mechanic) but I've left the welding to those more skilled...
She sits quite low but I used her as a my daily over the summer with no problems. She clears the speed bumps without you cringing every time but for me looks just about right...
The engine is a stock 1600 unit that pulls strong and as she's a microbus seems pretty swift (for a bay).
A testament to the engine is that after sitting in a yard in Cali for 4 months and in a shipping container for another 4 she started with nothing more than a boost and some fuel in the carb...
I've pretty much only driven her in the dry, she has been in my garage the rest of the time, but even in minus 3 conditions was good as gold...
The truck mirrors where fitted by me, you can see in most of the below photos they weren't fitted... I can get some more details recent pics at the request of any interested partys..
I still have the 3/4 length vwoa roof rack, it needs one of the arms re welding but is otherwise good... Pretty rare these days too...
The interior is pretty stock, I've left it like that but would benefit form someone putting their stamp on it.... The seats pull out in minutes too so it's pretty practical...
The headlining is near perfect...
As is the underside...
I've since had Type 2 detectives wax oil it for me along with a full mechanical inspection...
A few more photos can be found here... http://s128.beta.photobucket.com/user/stoopfish/library/69 Deluxe bay
The mot has lapsed over the winter but if I get the right kind of response to the ad then she will have 12 months on with some new ball joints (no play in them but the boots are split)...
You will also get any spares I can find, a full set of German drivers and pax door/window seals and any other bits I've got including the rack..
I'm in Norwich and I'm looking for £8K...
Swaps would have to have 2 seats and fast but really I'm looking for the cash... (Baby, house ect...)
Any questions or detailed pics (no pic hunters please, that's what google is for) just pm me or tx o779 two o9981o
Thanks
