If it brakes, or get loose you may have a fire in the compartment due to the heat.
It should be placed underneath the fuel tank.

Thought I would update give you a little update: we have just made it back from the vans first trip to Devon! It didn't miss a beat all the way... We had a great time and her are a few pics:

First outing of the year.... Had the bumpers painted and over riders fitted recently. Also the first time we have used the vango airbeam awning and it works a treat and I would recommend it to anybody looking at an awning!

Nice van and pics, thanks for sharing.

I quite like the sound of the pump up awnings, but have bought a Khyam motordome classic so will stick with that for now.
