I've been slowly but surely banging away at the interior of Bertie and have got about half way so far. The floor was covered in carpet when we got the van and was always going to rip it out as it was horrible. When I ripped it out I found the wood floor underneath fairly wet in some places and fairly damp everywhere else. I put some underlay down, then the ply flooring followed by some white laminate flooring from the IKEA bargain basement bin (50p per strip, 8 strips required). Here's the results.
Problems - When I tried to refit the rock n roll bed, it seemed to have changed shape as nothing seemed to fit the templates I had created from the original wood floor, I couldn't remember how everything was supposed to go back together and of course have ended up with a nice collection of spare crews, nuts and bolts!
I also took out the buddy seat behind the driver seat, covered it in 6mm dense foam (£10 for 2m x 1m) and the white leatherette (£5 per metre). The cushions haven't been covered yet but should get done over the next few weeks (dark brown suede). I put the seat in and it looks great, very pleased with myself!!!!
Next up is the front of under the bed, in the same stuff and am slowly but surely building a cupboard that ends at window level. This is proving a very interesting, frustrating, tricky and confusing task. Fingers crossed it will all work out.
