Batley, it's God awful!
The last two accelerator cables i bought were not cables but rather a single strand of wire which i think are cheap **** obviously they are cheaper to make but why dont they call them accelerator wire? 'cos if they did i wouldn't have bought them.

Is it possible to still get accelerator 'cables'?

Moan over

The original cables, just like the heater cables, were single wire.

Whats the problem? After 43 years of service they still work fine on my bus.

The aftermarket universal throttle cable is what I run on my bus, its a multi stranded and thicker cable, also better to use this if running twin carbs as you can make it to the exact length you require.

Hope that helps.

I have one of the universal cables sat at home waiting for me to fit this weekend!

I ordered it based on Alex' recommendation in another thread previously (it was added to basket to get me to the free postage threshold  )

I fitted one of them ones Alex said, seems good.

was a bitch to cut through though, not sure best way to do that

Wrap a pice of tape around where you want to cut and use a very good or new pair of side or flush cuts.

Yeah thats a good way, and the way I've always done it.

I keep meaning to try a soldering a short section of the cable and cutting through the solder, always been a thought of mine but never tried it.

I think that would work a treat Alex and probably help the cable maintain integrity there after as well.

Yes that works, also stops fraying later ;)
