Hi all, after some advice please. See pics below. What would you do, panel beating (need to get someone in) cut out and replace and try and blend in, replace entire panel?

Top right of the picture. previously "beaten" panel looks like a relief map of the alps

A bit closer

A sub question, if replace the panel is an option would this fit? a late split rear quarter????

Hiya nick,

Usually the rear corners are cut out when rust comes into the picture.

Now, admittedly, that's some pretty bad body pounding you already have. That can be done MUCH better. While compound curves are tough, it is possible to to get them close enough to the original surface so that a minimum of body filler needs to be used. And that is key - using a minimum of filler.

If your rust situation is well under control back there I'm thinking you'd be good to some pounding/reshaping/filling.

Cheers :) unfortunately the lower rear has already been cut off ready for replacement, and there is signs of pitting and rust bubbles on the vertical joint between the corner panel and rear arch panel, plus will need some cosmetic rust repairs on the lip where the corner panel joints the rear tailgate / valance / Engine lid area! hmmmm..... I was planning to keep as much original metal as possible, but now thinking, cut out entire damaged section and replace with a shaped piece of metal, or replace the entire panel with something that's rust free?? My panel beating skills are almost non existant!

Speak to Karl at Autocraft as they are making rear corners for the EB, not cheap at £250 a corner, but the quality looks superb - I've got 2 on order.

I have an offer of a body cut from moler that I (hopefully) will be able to let into the damaged area :) failing that I was looking at the autocraft late split corners but they are slightly different. But.... Excellent news that they are now making the EB corners! £250 is a lot of money, but when it comes to quality, nuff said :) Waiting to see about the body cut. Cheers

I would replace as little as poss and beat out the rest, i had a similar issue with mine and ended up making new corners
what ever you do you will end up filling it so as long the rots gone i wouldnt worry.
Have a look see at this thread.
