Hi,

Anybody running aerials mounted to their front panel?

Our Danbury has the holes where one was mounted, and need to decide (as bus is going for welding soon) whether to leave the holes or have them welded up?

If we leave them - are they a potential water trap. I wouldn't want our lovely new paint job to start bubbling up in 4-5 years time :(

If not the front panel, what's the alternative place to fit an aerial?

Cheers,

Mike

Hmm... A single hole?

Ours was of the two-hole style?

Is the single hole a "later" version?

:?

i have a 71 it has a single hole on the passenger side. It seems im a one year only... disc brakes, low front lights, and round back lights.

Looks like it's down to personal choice on the aerial. My 68 is single hole.
But if you want to weld the holes up I pretty sure it's easy's bus that has an internal aerial behind the passenger seat.

ive always thought a bee-sting aerial at the back on top would look cool, althought it would mean more drilling

thats what i have, not sure it would look right on a classic camper, mines modded so looks good :D

Post up a pic SK would like to see what that looks like :)

I was thinking of grafting in a bimmer shark fin aerial and then colour code.

before mine was resprayed it had a cool single hole mounted aerial with a spring on the bottom 8)

but the resprayer took it off and filled the hole and i nevr realised til I couldn't tune the radio in

could never find another like it, though I've recently seen landys with something similar

ill sort it this afternoon

A nice discreet glass mount Ae is what you want, no holes to rot through and nothing for the little scrotes to hang off when they are bouncing up and down on your bumper :x

I thought I read somewhere that aerials were fitted by dealers along with the radio so the hole(s) could end up anywhere.
My 72 doesnt have any aerial holes, I think the aerial is fitted under the dash somewhere (thats where the wire goes) but cant reach under there or pull it out to find out what is attached. It appears to be stuck/wedged behind the box section structure behind the dash, works fine though.

i didnt want to drill holes in my metal, so i mounted a 'normal' aerial behind my passenger seat. I didnt have to drill a hole for that either as their was one in the original pressing of that panel.
No drilling, no mess, perfect signal...happy days!

That's what I've got, it just sits on the door glass - very retro!!!
