Sure this is a can of worms but, I have been told that a stock air filter may be better for my bus?

I am running a 1600 stock engine and am after reliability

Discuss! :D

Cheers

stock filters are far superior fella exactly as they were designed they work much better than them ol pancake ones and they don`t whistle either

sorry doods who`ve got them add ons

ste :)

It's not really a can of worms, its a simple case of Volkswagen developed the oil bath air filter over a number of years and designed it specifically to work on that engine.

The people who think a piece of sponge, some chicken wire and some crappy chinese chrome is better tend to also be the ones who think IMDUs are a good solution to carb icing (which isn't a problem if your running a stock air filter ;) )

So in short stock air filter will give you better MPG, maybe a slight power increase, prevents carb icing, has the right size pipe for the oil breather to connect to, you may even find your van will idle properly now and it can be properly cleaned when servicing.

I have a crap pancake filter and its rubbish, Im in the process of getting an oil bath. Only problem i have is the stand have been cut off

I had 1 on my old engine  Please forgive me, i was bored at a show 1 day and had a fiver in my pocket. I dunno what come over me

That settles it then! off with the shiney shiney..............

Thanks for your help fellas :D
