Ringing round for insurance quotes I was asked what alarms would be fitted  has any one got any recommendations ?

I can recommend this.

Not cheap and you have to feed it daily, but it works a treat.

I've always used Toad's Ai606,

I've fitted loads of them now, cheap simple but effective with lots of extra features that can be wired in/off the key fob.

Probably actually ott for a camper but it's what I'm using on mine with a few extras thrown in to boot.

Do any of them cover the engine lid ?

I'd say all alarms come with a bonnet switch, so you'd be able to cover the engine lid with any alarm but you'd have to add a simple switch. Wiring would need to be extended too in a camper.

Got one of those !

He's a bit soft in the head though :)

Why didn't I buy my bus years ago !?

I'm alarmed you didn't buy my panel van!
Superb bus that !
I miss it now tbh

You found something trebor?
Let your secret out !

I wanted to get one on the road for volksworld and sell my car by the end of March but it's not happening :(

Mate I don't know what to say?
My panel was 98 % immaculate

You've looked at some rusty busses and clean busses

If u can't find anything that tickles your fancy ( and u been looking for a while ) before you get pissed off with looking why not buy something mid range and do some work on it.

Sounds like you've got the skills, and the time to do it !

Also seems to me you wonna buy the perfect bus but also won't a project???
Take the plunge
Find a bus , maybe a small project and u n mrs trebor can enjoy some fun times out during the summer?
Maybe come back to east anglia n visit the shiplees at dubs at the hall middle of the year?

Have a laugh at us going mental with three young kids, necking loads of wine trying to stay as calm as we possibly can

We r gonna struggle ..... Gotta be worth a look ???

I know what it's like, chin up they will be horrible in a few years time  make the most of it before they start to answer you back.

Mate I love my boys!
I've another on the way.
It's gonna b hard but we will love the new baby as much as the other little ones.
Anyone who's a parent with three young kids I'm sure will understand the fact that mr n mrs shippas will be going mental this year, being run ragged lol!

Don't avoid the bus issue chap!
Don't make it a bore.
Buy one ,enjoy it !
If in a couple of years your not happy then sell it and then u get the fun of looking for something new.

We would b happy to share a beer with u at a show later this year if u find something

All the best with your hunt !

I think you`ll find that the pop tops fetch double or even triple the amount of money that a sun roof or tin top would fetch ;)

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,, Tell her about my little incident

Without being funny I thing you need to decide exactly what you are looking for, I know when we spoke you were after a tin top but have then enquiring about high roof buses, sunroof buses and now pop tops. They all have their individual merits but unless you pin down exactly whet you want then you will be looking forever.

Remember you can get a drive away awning to go with a tintop so that's give you the flexibility if you need room for kids etc.

I think you need to tick the boxes:

LHD or RHD?
Pop top, tintop ( sunroof or not but adds more cost and complexity)
Og paint or are you happy to get a bus painted if you need it?
Original interior ie microbus or blank canvas to do what you want with?
How are you going to use it and what for, only you can answer that.
Then it gets down to years, do you go wide 5 and upgrade the brakes?
Or go for 71/72 with discs but less attractive rear arches ( personal opinion by the way) and fat chick rear lights on a 72 :)

Pin it down and then search for vans that meet your criteria :)

Sorry trebor
I've been so busy today!
It's sun night 1941 pm and this is the first time all day I've had a chance to sit down and look at the pad!
I'll have a look at your message this evening at some point !
