So what is everybody doing to the van (if anything) in January?

I didn`t think that I was gonna do much, but now it seems as the list is growing.

1, Change all bumper bolts to polished stainless.
2, Put on new twin weber 34icts.
3, New speedo to be fitted.
4, Sort leisure battery for stereo etc.
5, MOT
6, Rolling road the van once all is fitted to get it running like a peach.

Im sure the list will grow aswell

Big plans for ours in January, by then the Fastback should be how I want it, so we can plough on with the bus. I've actually got a week booked off from the 15th to the 19th, and our mate Mikey has very kindly agreed to let us borrow his workshop. Plans include;

1- Cut out old front arches, rear arches, cab door bottoms, lower front panel.
2- Weld in new front arches, rear arches, cab door bottoms, lower front panel.
3- Cut out old outriggers and jacking points.
4- Weld in new outriggers and jacking points.
5- Couple of small repairs to the cab floor and a bit of welding to behind the rear seat.
6- Completely gut the interior.
7- Start building a new interior from scratch.
8- Paint the inside of the bus.
9- Repalce broken quarterlights with new ones.
10-Rebuild broken lock mechanisms
11-Refit new winder mechanism.

If I can get half of it done I'll be happy.

start building up my 1776 engine (again) with a new case and maybe a new 76mm stroker crank :D . i doubt santa is gonna bring me them. put my new black BRM's on , jus need to buy the tyres.

im dying to drive her again we didnt really get off on the best start!!

bring on the summer and the year of the early bay!!! :D

Looks like its gonna be a busy month for the earlybay boys and girls 8)

Paint the poptop, fit the canvas to it.
Get as much of the metal work powder coated (depends on cost) then fit it all to the top of the van.

Sort out the sliding door - doesn't fit to well.
Sort out the gutters - looking a bit ropey.
Replace all the interior panels.
Replace front beam with a better one.
Repair all the chassis work and replace all the brake pipes.
Fit some new heat exchangers and see if I can get any heat in the van.

Get it MOT'd and try and use it :D

Probably into March with that little lot!

just want to bloody find a panel van so i have some substance to being a part of the early bay gang !!!!!!!
:(

The next few months are gonna be busy! repairs for my 68 dormobile include:-

Replacing completely rotten rear roof.
New front arches and steps.
New front valance and chassis cross member.
Rear window repair panels.
New sills both sides.
New outriggers.

This is just a warm up, i'm gonna call my van the incredible hulk, because it's green and a rusting hulk of metal.

I am definatly mad!

Should have exterior resto done and painted.

Will hopefully get the interior, carpets, roof lining, insulation and soundproofing done in January.

Would be nice to have most done to go to dubfreeze.

Moving near Leeds in January so the van is on hold.

I will get it through an MOT though to take it with me and see how it goes from there.

Will be getting plenty of climbing in though 8)

How are you painting your pop top??? Mine is looking fairly old and weathered. You can see the fibres, it has no shine at all. I need to get it nice and new looking again, but have no idea of how to do it.

Help me please!
